When the New Balance 999 Elite first popped up, the community was quick to react with comparisons to the instant classic “Kennedy” New Balance 999. Following those first couple of colorways, the shoe has managed to blaze its own path separate from the nautically inspired shoe. This new black and red combo for instance doesn’t have too much in common with the aforementioned collab, opting for a more typical set of laces along with some tones far away from that red, white, and blue.
