Nike SB Celebrates “Go Skateboarding Day” 2013

Nike Go Skateboarding Day

Nike SB has some huge stuff in the works for this year’s “Go Skateboarding Day”. Upping the ante after building their own skatepark back in 2012, this year they re-created a ton of classic NYC skate spots. Oh, and they did it on a 250ft barge that’s floating in the waters around Manhattan. On top of that there are contest planned spanning the city’s various boroughs, allowing young skaters across the Big Apple to showcase what they’ve got. Continue reading for a glimpse at the incredible Nike SB Skate Safari Barge, as well as a full listing of the various stuff going on at other locations like Sao Paulo and Los Angeles, and make sure you get out there and skate this weekend.

Nike Skateboarding kicks off another epic Go Skateboarding Day (GSD) June 21. To celebrate and encourage more riders to Skate Every Damn Day, Nike SB is hosting events around the world to promote the growth of skateboarding.

Nike SB invited riders of all ages to attend activations in New York, London, Washington D.C., Mexico City, Berlin, Barcelona, Paris, Melbourne, Sao Paulo, Chicago and Los Angeles. To find out how to be a part of the action check Nike SB’s Skate Every Damn Day website for detailed information.
New York City

New York City takes Go Skateboarding Day to a new level offering skaters the unique opportunity to experience the Nike SB Skate Safari Barge—a custom skate park built on a 250ft barge that will travel between two special locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn. GSD begins at Flushing Meadows Maloof Park and features the Red Bull Best Trick Contest. Nike SB will then take over the Lower East Side’s Coleman Oval Park with Nike SB pros and the 5Boro NYC and CCS x Nike SB Best Trick Contests.

The day closes with a must-see special demo by Nike SB athlete Paul Rodriguez, alongside other members of the Nike SB pro team on the Nike SB Skate Safari Barge, taking place at 8pm on Friday, June 21st.
Sao Paulo

In Sao Paulo, Brasil, Nike SB pros Cezar Gordo and Rodrigo Gerdal will help celebrate Go Skateboarding Day at the iconic Praça Charles Miller, featuring many different obstacles, DJs and more.
Los Angeles

In L.A., Nike SB will host a skate safari through the city. In the week leading up to Go Skateboarding Day, riders have skated three iconic spots: the L.A. Courthouse, the Wilshire Rails and the Downtown L.A. Car Wash next to the Staples Center. Exclusive prizes will be given to those who shared photos of their skate safari to each spot. The event on GSD will be held at Hollenbeck Skate Plaza and Nike’s Sixth & Mill skatepark with the Nike SB team.
