The rumors were true-the Air Jordan III “Doernbecher” will be back this Summer. The pair is releasing next Saturday, July 20th, at Nikestore’s online hub as well as a handful of Nike spots across the country. When Nike first announced the return of a handful of Doernbecher-patient designed styles it felt like it was only a matter of time before we got the official word of an Air Jordan release among them. Continue reading for a refresher on the Air Jordan III “Doernbecher”, releasing on July 20th, and get the full release info just after the jump.
Cole Johanson participated in the Doernbecher Freestyle program in 2010 and had the opportunity to tell his story through the Air Jordan 3 Retro. A tonal red upper features “COLE” subtly spelled out within a diamond grid pattern, as well as callouts to his two favorite foods (spaghetti and chocolate) behind the pull-tab. But it was two words inscribed on the insole that helped Cole beat his lymphoma: Strength and Courage.
“Those are the two things you need the most,” he said. “Especially courage. I mean, everyone has it, the trick is just not letting it go when hard things happen.” It’s a mantra that Cole continues to embrace as he prepares to start his freshman year at Beaverton High School. He can’t wait to play high school hoops, and, of course, he’ll be rocking a pair of Air Jordans.
Look for Cole Johanson’s limited edition Air Jordan 3 Retro on July 20 at Nike.com and in Nike retail locations across the US. All proceeds benefit the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation and the young patients who need it most.

Mann its nice they bringing back the DB 3's but lets be real..Most of us are not going to be able to get a pair
I like how the money will help support the Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation, but it's a shame Jordan Brand as always is gonna make 'em limited smfh. Just make millions of these so a lot of $$$$$$$$$$ can help the cause. Watch as Nike.com crashes smfh. Then, end up of eBay as usual smfh.
They're releasing all these red-colored shoes this year, including the Jordan 4 Toro Bravo. It's only right if they also release the Jordan 5 Raging Bulls since it's the year of the 5s.
Yall just don't know, Nike had these sitting in a warehouse for 3 years. Shoes never fully "Sale out".
I always wondered what the design on the upper was, but the fact that it spells out "COLE" so subtly is awesome. I thought it was random, but the DB line is so thoughtful, this would be a really dope pickup.

@bfresh89 You have proof to back up that claim, or are you just talking out of your @ss?
@BallaBaby how much for a size 7
@KenDo Why don't you hop off this shit fuck boy
@KenDo u dumb?? they retro everything now doesn't matter how many yrs apart, the infared pk released in 2010 n both are comin next yr...the DB 3 came out 08 now its comin back, thunders , grapes, etc....get ur kick game up!! imback!! youtube.com/dribblezthagod
@DRIBBLEZ @KenDo You know DB 3 was a limited release and is an exception, and that everything else you named came out 8 years ago, thats TWICE as long ago as the raging bulls. You also know that the only shoes that JB cycles with regularity like that are OG colorways, so stop it. I'm not going try to insult your 'kick game' so don't try to insult mine.
I actually worked at the nike return center warehouse while in college. Its so many kicks that flow back and forth through there. All of the major releases that don't sell, the big name shoe stores return shoes all the time and they just get redistributed at a later date either by nike or if nike sends them out to other stores. So the restock stuff isn't new, just more people are watching now. The internet is the gift and the curse.
