The big news yesterday was the unveiling of the Nike Kobe 9 in Los Angeles (a full recap is here if you need to catch up). Right now, however, is a good time to take an in-depth look at this incredible sneaker, which is slated for a release on February 8th, 2014 at an MSRP of $225. This high-cut, Flywire-laden basketball shoe is, to date, the most advanced Kobe sneaker we’ve seen yet, and Eric Avar, a seasoned veteran in the industry of footwear design, can’t help but display unabashed excitement over the shoe. This one’s dubbed the “Masterpiece”, much like an orchestrator of grand symphonies would name his compositions, and the various details that make up the shoe only solidify the notion that the Kobe 9 sneaker is very well a work of complete art. We have a detailed look at this new sneaker right now, so take a look and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more on the Kobe 9.
Nike Kobe 9 Elite “Masterpiece”
Release Date: 02/08/14
@bander93.....knitting strands of yarn. made from single strands of yarns.... Nike tells us they made these shoes out of Crap that's cheap (cost no kind of real money) and we still buy this trash! I love the design and what Kobe is going for as a player with his shoes, but selling at $225 it is crazy!
I hope the NBA ban these for being super high tops.
This helps two fold.
1. They become legendary like AJ1 Banned breds, collectible. Game over.
2. Nike are forced to make them regular high tops, so all those haters out there can stop complaining that they look like boxing boots.
Kill two birds with one stone.
Lebron saw these and he is mad. Now he wants a redefined shoe. Ha. These are gonna go quickly. I will have to use early morning online sales as an indicator. People were bashing the black XX8s and they didn't even last half a day.
As a Sneakerhead, I have a rule against buying basketball shoes. But, I might just have to cop these....
Can't wait.... These and the LeBron xi will go down in historya as some of the most comfortable shoes ever! Can't wait. Thank God for military discount, because I would not buy if i had to to pay retail with tax. My price will be $180.00 and really that's still to high. How does his shoe go from 140.00 to 225.00, at least LeBron X's were already almost (180.00) 200 bucks before his hit 200 bucks. Kobe's jump up 75 bucks that's crazy! Nike did this because they know they are running out of time with Kobe being on top of their big 3. On another note, I can't wait till they start putting this much technology into the KO signature
technically speaking these are nuts. just not sure id buy them for anything beside balling in. and 225 is steep for a balling shoe for me. they release a mid or even a low then I am all in.
i like these. about time nike got away from all this snake ish they was pushing in the last few models. but these are pretty dope. id def cop these
these have a silhouette reminiscent of the air mags (page 2 bottom pic). IDK whats happening with this super high top biz but its not poppin'. patiently waiting for a low top version. They are still pretty dope though.
Regardless, Kobe era of Nikes have pushed the envelope from being low cut to what we have now! The Jordan XX28 set the standard but I think the Kobe 9 had raised the bar!!!
They said the KDs looked like soccer shoes but they sell out. They said Lebron's was the best ever and he doesnt wear them. Men Lie, Women Lie, but numbers wont lie come February.
@londonting28 That won't happen because there isn't anything illegal about flynit. It is pretty much a really thick sock but then again he might have to wear higher socks to show off the NBA logo on them.
@ThomasSilverbackHeaslet IK right? Its the flyknit aspect and slim construction that will make me break the rule.
@qtbigwatts With the flynit this will be the most lockdown form fitting basketball shoe ever. 225 is just the right price for these. The Lebron XI is good as far as comfort. I love the Lunarlon/full zoom insert but they can't touch the XX8s, Superfly 2s or the Lebron 8 V2 in comfort and performance.
@JackSpain Raised the bar on the flynit but the proplated zoom is way better than air max or lunarlon. I know the XX9s are gonna be crazy now.
@JackSpain did you really just say XX28? bitch do you even know what the XX means?
@londonting28 eh im seeing more 2009 hyperdunk
@londonting28 I see the same thing. They really should have considered lowering it a bit.
@KenDo And a good quality boxing shoes too :-)
You actually don't need to show the nba logo off, depending on the sock or shoe the sock May not be visible.
U gotta remember these are da Elite version. Da standard Kobe 9 is gonna b much b lower in price compared to these yo
I understand and feel you bruh... But you forgot one thing! The hyper dunk 2013 should be at the top or near top of every hoopers list! The LeBron xi touches the Jordan xx8 on every level to me as far as performance, but the one thing the xx8 gets killed in is fashion! The LeBron xi kills the xx8 when it comes to casual wear hands down!
@qtbigwatts The XX8 is by far the best performance shoe ever. If you have not tried a pair on or played basketball in them they are insane and so are the superfly 2s. The proplated zoom is the best thing ever added to a shoe and they better use it in the XX9s.
@ILIKESHOES I know what XX is and it was clearly a misprint but clearly you're a little shit and felt like getting your rocks off by calling me a bitch! I love you internet gangstas! So much talking with your chest behind a keyboard and monitor but wouldn't bust a grape in public! My first and only response to you!!!
I believe this will be the standard and the elite (playoff) will be called something else or non existent this year. They normally don't drop the elites separate and early in the year like this. February??? That's crazy. And they can't be doing it because of his injury because he has been practicing in the Kobe8 and it's low. Have they gave a reason for this? If not I think the elite name on this Kobe just replaces the system as in Kobe system; Kobe elite
@qtbigwatts I don't know about that. That first wave of XX8s with the alien camo are too cold. Nah the XI can't touch the XX8s. Doing shoe on shoe fit comparisons and you will feel the difference. Proplated zoom, flight plate and decoupled outsole. Not even close. The Xs are better than the XI when it come to comfort. Lebron doesn't even like them. They are alright a lil lower to the ground and not as much cushion response. Since it is a systems shoe I think they will change up the insert for Lebron and maybe offer it online or in the next few releases. The Hyper dunk 2013 is great as well. I have not bought a pair yet but I did try them on.
