The adidas Mutombo already had one of the more unique aesthetics in the history of basketball sneakers thanks to its African shield in celebration of Dikembe’s roots. That feature has been downplayed just a bit on this latest sample, but Three Stripes probably did that because combining it with the gloss of patent leather might be over the top. But in this more muted rendition (only black and white), we find that this classic big man shoe may have found a new groove in its second retro run. adidas (and reebok and ewing) need to understand that they can't keep making up new colorways for their retro silhouettes.
instead of making the og versions of the mutombo, kobe/crazy1, shaq attack easier for heads to cop, they make limited runs of the original and only CW people care about, then flood the market with garbage colorways that no one wants.
stop it please.
