Massive Campout Forces Supreme To Cancel Foamposite Release
Supreme New York has cancelled the in-store release of the Supreme Foamposites due to a massive campout that threatened the safety of pedestrians as well as those vying for the shoes. Lines were beginning to form once the official release date was made public on Monday, and by 7 PM tonight, the already busy intersection of Prince St. at Lafayette was infiltrated with thousands of sneakerheads and Supreme fanatics – all in hopes of copping the shoes that officially go on sale tomorrow.
The official notice of cancellation came when Supreme posted a message on their Instagram account as well as on their storefront window (see below), but this change of plans only affects the in-store release at the New York location. The shoes will still go on sale tomorrow on the Supreme online store, so hope is not lost. We thought we were done with chaotic campouts, right? Well, given the right shoe and the right amount of hype, anything can happen. Check out the photos below and give us your opinions on this turn of events.
At kixify.com/store/nice-choice we have a DS pair of 8.5 #supremefoamposites for sale! Holler at us if you missed out on em!
Smh , All this is a joke , they wait in line to get shoes , when you can simply wait in a employment line and actually do good . This is the most , and actually why people are dropping down and back away from the sneaker community .
Sad, u couldn't get them to line up for a job corps or to vote.... but I guess this is more important.
No it is a joke, because there are a couple hundred idiots standing in a line to a shoe store that probably only has 25 pairs of them.
Nick Allier, that's crazy... I seen all these people waiting outside foot locker in folding chairs, line was wrapped around the whole damn mall!!
wish i can go back to the days where i can go pick up foams 2 days after release. i gave up on sneakers cause of shit like this....
This is taking the word "hypebeast" to a whole new level. Because of incidents like this one, i think stores are force to do raffles. I used to live in the Bronx, when there's a Jordan release it's too hard to copp a pair. I live in Jersey now and it's a different scenario.
1) Do these people have jobs, if so, what kind of job? cuz apparently I'm doing something wrong... 2) Its another ugly ass foam with a ridiculous graphic like the ones last year, so just cuz its Supreme, lets riot? 3) Nike has PLENTY of experience with this; why would you release them the 'old school' way, you knew this would happen..?
Maybe its just me, but in my experience camping for shoes If you're not one of the first 25-50 folks closest to the door. you might as well go on back home. I don't get why hundreds camp to think they even have a chance, Mobs only cause residents to get uneasy and call the cops.
@BrandonEvans2 cause most of those people are fucking dumb HS dropouts, fucking losers, no wonder why USA got the dumbest kids in the world. Can get up early and have the patience to go camp out for hours, but can't get up to go find a fucking job or have the discipline to finish school. I hate trash like that and all them deserve to get dick punched for draining this society and wasting my fucking oxygen.
@BrandonEvans2 I've successfully camped 3 times, and by that I mean I was within the first 20 spots. If that line had 25+ people, I said forget it, guess I'll try for a different pair and set the money aside. You know damn well that the store didn't get 500 pairs, why sit there for nothing?
@Nikes_Jordans_ i agree with you. i never campout, but i get to my local sneakers store a few hours before it opens and i manage to be one of the first ones to get a pair.
@BrandonEvans2 @Nikes_Jordans_ The worst part is that people get pissed that the store sold out after the first 50 people. You really thought everyone in front of you would leave? Idk, I don't get it. People need to look at the situation and say, well damn, theres 100 people in front of me, I probably shouldn't stand here all damn day.. But hey, not my time, not my money, not my problem..
@Enrik Yeah, now I don't need to camp out or anything. There is a Footlocker & Champs at my local mall, both do raffles for every release that they get, I enter both every time. Champs calls me on Thursday, Footlocker on Friday. If I get them at one store, I tell the other one to call someone else, if I don't get 'em at either, well, screw it.
