New Balance Unveils Made in USA “Authors Collection”
New Balance is again showing off their American heritage with the upcoming “Authors Collection”, which is inspired by American novels and their creators. The result is an earthy set that channels a library-like aesthetic of leather bound books and the sort of tweed clad folks behind them. The group will be split into three parts – the “Bespoke Authors” collection featuring Horween lathered 998s in similar limited numbers, and then the “Distinct Authors” and “Connoisseur Authors” collections with a wider range of models. Continue reading to see shots from the collection’s debut at last night’s exclusive New Balance event in NYC that Sneaker News was in the building for, and stay tuned to see more of what went down.
@BananaKarenina Under what circumstances would you be trampling books? That makes no sense at all, even for Twitter.
@venetianblonde American authors??
@BananaKarenina I DON'T UNDERSTAND
@MaxKennerly, what do you think? It's a weird line of sneakers...
@Watermarkbooks Yes, they're very cool. Probably not worth the $300 they are charging. I'd rather spend my money on books.
@eugenia_will I thought this was going to be about books that wear shoes, which would be a lot more palatable. And cleaner.
@Nathan_Pensky made in USA…awesome...
@JenHoward Nothing quite says "I'm a casual yet cultured 30- or 40-something male" like these. Reading Hemingway while grilling steaks, etc.
@JenHoward That is hilarious.
@sneakernews Moby Dick.
@sneakernews wow, so perfect they are.
I'm a sucker for New Balances, especially anything 997-999. Even though I likely won't be able to get my hands (or feet) on these I always have to applaud the craftsmanship.
A few of these are already on UK sites for pre-order. Actually let me say "were". Many are already sold out. Shame sneakernews didn't mention that because it could help people understand when these drop in the US you better be on #teamnosleep
@sneakernews I like these
@RLSte I know, I know...ignorance inc. They surely don't even know you married a Yank....
@PseudoHermes Me too!!
@KolleenCarney Chuck Taylors and a black pen should do it for under $40.
@aarontpratt @JenHoward What's wrong with being 30 or 40 or even 50. I don't worship youth like some ....
@aarontpratt Kickin' it with Papa.
@scottseay70 but that would require an effort that would cut into my many naps
