A Detailed Look at the Public School x Air Jordan 1

July 23rd, 2014 by / 22

The Jordan Brand palette has been consistently elevated this year through a series of calculated moves aligning them with a more high end reputation. The new Jordan Shine marks their official entry into the luxury footwear category, and the new Russell Westbrook x Jordan Brand x Barneys collection even has them elbowing their way into the competitive realm of designer apparel. It’s clear here that Jordan Brand is incredibly selective in regards to collaborative partners; the Air Jordan 1 by Public School, a New York City-based brand that’s already having an incredible summer thanks to that 2014 CFDA award for Menswear Designer of the Year given to label leads Maxwell Osborne & Dao-Yi Chow, is next up in this series of impressive maneuvers by the brand.

The Public School x Air Jordan 1 very much lines up with the label’s aesthetic; the pair sticks mostly to monochromatic mode, and any branding that shows up remains subtle. Their New York home is paid tribute to both in the form of the initials on the back side and via the covert manhole icon that shows up on the insole. For now the Public School x Air Jordan 1 is a 1/50 friends and family exclusive, but as mentioned when the shoes were first revealed, there are plans for a retail release version in the future. That version will feature “NY23″ inscriptions for the heel area rather than the “PSNY” found here, and will release exclusively at the Flight 23 Jordan Brand retail store. Continue reading for a detailed gallery on the PSNY x Air Jordan 1 and stay tuned to Sneaker News in the event of further Public School Air Jordans for the future.

Woah woah let's get the facts straight, the Jordan shine marks their official entry into outright highway robbery. C'mon $400 for 1 pair of Jordan's? These ain't Louis, Gucci, Fendi, or Prada. Nike better get the fuck outta here with that bullshit.

Its the same shit over and over.  If this were not so limited no one would care.  Looks exactly like all the mid nouveau colorways, if not worse.  Its all black, so what.

This is a nice clean colorway wish there was a widespread release

What bothers me is it takes a collaboration to create such a simple colorway that uses premium materials which makes it impossible to get. Just put out a GR that looks like this I'd cop and I'm sure everyone else would as well.

@Squizzy3000 I don't think so, bro. Nobody is buying those Nouveau's, and this is in the same wheelhouse. The only reason people are so hype over these is A.) A high-end clothing brand is attached to it and B.) most importantly, it's LIMITED (the word that makes the average hypebeast's head explode).

@Squizzy3000 no sir, everyone would not buy these all black dunks with the jordan wings logo....if by everyone you mean people who buy everything jordan, then yes you are correct.

@curtdiggler1 @Squizzy3000 You are one confused little boy if you don't think people would go APE SHIT for these as a general release....people go fucking nuts shit like shadows, then people will go nuts for these.

@curtdiggler1 @Squizzy3000 these are fresh, it's a basic colorway with good materials and correct material placement. 1's are less bulky than dunks btw. if you don't like these u got issues man.

@BigGuy77 @curtdiggler1 @Squizzy3000 they've released like 10 pairs of these in mids recently and NO ONE gives a shit whatsoever.  People ONLY and we all know I'm 100% correct, ONLY want this shoe because it's limited.  If it was not limited it would be on sale for $50 and no one would buy it.

@scaredmagic @BigGuy77 @curtdiggler1 @Squizzy3000 @That Uncut Raw Only point I was trying to make was that you won't see a GR with these materials on them. People hate on Ronnie fieg for having such simple colorways but the materials are always on point... if asics would just drop shoes with simple colorways like that i'd cop I don't need to stress over copping a pair first hand lol
