Under Armour Reportedly Offered Kevin Durant Up To $285 Million

The ongoing battle for the Kevin Durant sneaker contract between Nike and Under Armour wages on. The latest bit of info on a possible move for Durant to UA is the most concrete yet: his representation at Roc Nation Sports has informed Nike that there is a current deal on the table worth between $265 million and $285 million over the next ten years. Apparently Nike’s last offer for Durant involved a base and minimum royalty guarantee that would give him at least $20 million per year. As per Durant’s current contract, Nike has the chance to match the Under Armour contract; if they do, he cannot legally sign with Under Armour, and if they don’t then he is free to sign with any brand. “The deal includes Under Armour stock and other incentives, such a community center built in his mother’s name, whose exact worth will not be known for some time.”

“Nike, which saw its signature business related to the Oklahoma City Thunder forward grow to roughly $175 million at retail this past season, will now have the right to match, which is a condition of Durant’s current contract with the brand. Durant can still choose Nike if they don’t match, but can’t legally choose Under Armour if they do.”

“If his relationship with Nike ends, it will be interesting to see how it liquidates Durant’s latest shoe, the KD7. Colorways are planned and have been sold through to retailers through the end of the year, and sources say Nike has the contractual right to liquidate its current line.”
