Nike Basketball Revisits LeBron, Kobe, Pippen, and Other Athletes in Their First Shoes

Nike Signature Athlete History 1

There have been nineteen Nike Basketball signature athletes to date, and tonight, that number will increase to twenty as the brand officially announces the newest member of the signature athlete club. As a precursor to that event, Nike has revisited the debut signature shoes of these major figures, including Penny Hardaway, Scottie Pippen, LeBron James, and more.

A quick flip-through of this set of seven athletes reveals that Nike has, without question, the strongest historical roster in the sport that values the signature athlete the most. Check out this awesome vintage gallery of Nike signature athletes debuting their first shoes, and be sure to check back with Sneaker News for first-hand coverage of tonight’s events.
