What If Drake Joined adidas?

Adidas Superstar Drake Jones
No, not that Drake. This adidas Superstar was made for three stripes skater Drake Jones. But what if adidas Originals finally grabbed a sponsorship deal with the Toronto emcee? After signing Kanye and a stable full of any relevant recording artist that also deems themselves a ‘designer’ (read most of G.O.O.D. Music, Pharrell Williams, Rita Ora, and more) Drizzy is one of the few rappers that doesn’t give the trefoil a stamp of approval due to contract obligations with a rival brand. Even when Kanye gave him a pair of his Yeezy Boosts on stage, Drake politely placed them on top of a speaker and didn’t look at ’em twice.

If recording artists are the new athletes in terms of marketability in the lifestyle department, then Drake’s Jordan Brand affiliation should definitely be a worthwhile endeavor for both parties. But with the Jumpman’s cornering of the retro market, Drizzy’s namesake seems a bit underused by the brand save the mid-season Raptors hoopla and the random release at the Los Angeles pop-up not too long ago.

But Drake is nowhere near a Kanye West in terms of design, so don’t expect Aubrey to put pen on sketchpad any time soon, but the Canadian is arguably on the highest tier of popular celebrities, and adding him to the already beefed up celebri-roster would only help adidas Originals continues their push towards gaining ground on Nike. This Superstar, albeit for another Drake, is just an example of what you could expect if he joined forces with Dassler. All that’s missing is his’s mug on the tongue and the owl insignia on the heel.
