Two decades in the game and the second greatest shooting guard in NBA history is hanging it up. Today, Kobe Bryant officially announced on the Players Tribune that he will retire from the game at the end of this season. A career that has included five NBA titles, one MVP award, an endless list of All-NBA teams, Olympic gold, and plenty more, Kobe Bryant’s body of work will soon include Basketball Hall Of Fame the second he becomes eligible. Kobe’s injuries have slowed him down considerably over the last few years, and although his passion and tenacity is there, he says he can no longer hang on a physical level. This announcement comes just after we got a first look at the Nike Kobe 11, so expect Nike to take great measures to unveil what will be the last Nike Kobe signature shoe during the Black Mamba’s active tenure. Let’s bid farewell to a living legend throughout this season.
