Where To Buy The Civilist x Nike SB Dunk Low

Despite being revealed only earlier this week, Civilist‘s upcoming Nike SB Dunk Low seems to blowing past the usual checkpoints. After many a subsequent tease — some from the Berlin-based imprint themselves — the pair has reached the hands of sneaker insiders who have appropriately provided one of the best looks yet and word on what is rumored to be a very sudden August release.

Presumed to be a relatively understated collaboration initially, the pair quickly subverted assumption with an all-over thermochromic finish. Fresh out of the box, the pair seems quite neutral with a full black upper and matching accents, but once exposed to heat, a vibrant heat map reminiscent pattern begins to appear. Dark reds, lighter greens, and blues display the entire temperature spectrum, each placed as if gradating from the heel to the toe box. Neutral-toned toolings, linings, and tongues arrive bereft of the focal treatment, though the latter does deliver color by way of a variety of laces as well as yellow-checked tongue patch.

UPDATE (08/26/2020):
Official release information about the Civilist x Nike SB Dunk Low reveal that the pair has been inspired by the countercultural rave movement that had been brewing in Berlin’s Mitte District leading up the Berlin Wall’s demolition in 1991. With a little heat, the unassuming, “Black” leather reveals a thermochromatic pattern that would have been appropriate on a rave dance floor in the ’90s.
