air jordan 1 public school A Detailed Look at the Public School x Air Jordan 1

The Jordan Brand palette has been consistently elevated this year through a series of calculated moves aligning them with a more high end reputation. The new Jordan Shine marks their official entry into the luxury footwear category, and the new Russell Westbrook x Jordan Brand x Barneys collection even has them elbowing their way into the competitive realm of designer apparel. It’s clear here that Jordan Brand is incredibly selective in regards to collaborative partners; the Air Jordan 1 by Public School, a New York City-based brand that’s already having an incredible summer thanks to that 2014 CFDA award for Menswear Designer of the Year given to label leads Maxwell Osborne & Dao-Yi Chow, is next up in this series of impressive maneuvers by the brand.

kanye main 02b 1 A Sneaker by Sneaker Breakdown of Kanye Wests Footwear Influence

It’s almost impossible to ignore the massive influence that Kanye West has had on the sneaker industry and the way its consumers choose their products. His footwear selections and tendencies were quickly imprinted into the collective conscious of his fanbase, but more importantly, they sent the industry as a whole back to the drawing board in an effort to bring products that aligned with his thinking. Of course, the pop culture megastar was just like everyone else when the sneaker culture was in its neophytic stages; he merely wore what he liked, steadily rotating Air Jordans, Air Max 1s, and Air Force 1s, but as his career began to “touch the sky”, so did his personal tastes.

Year One: adidas Springblade Evolution

adidas springblade drive year one 2 Year One: adidas Springblade Evolution

Presented By adidas

The adidas Springblade is more than a sneaker. Sure, it started out as one futuristic model, which tore into retailers in August of last year, but from there the sneakers have evolved into a small family of shoes that all hinge on the same striking sole treatment. The sixteen angular polymer blades that lift the wearer off the ground have also lifted the design language of the Three Stripes, elevating their place in the performance running category.

First it was the adidas Springblade, a shoe six years in the making, that pushed the envelope about as far as humanly possible with its bold sole design. From there, the brand went to work in sharpening the upper of the already successful design. Enter the Springblade Razor, which introduced the proprietary TECHFIT lining to the insides of the shoes. This season the shoe will again evolve with the Springblade Drive.

This time around, the silhouette is slightly simplified—but all the technology that made it a hit in the first place remains. The adidas Springblade Drive dons a 360-degree engineered stretch mesh upper along with a one-piece stability cage that’s borrowed from the adidas Energy Boost 2 (another adidas runner that’s making plenty of noise). Explore the brief family tree of adidas Springblade sneakers shown here, and watch for the new Springblade Drive at select adidas Running retailers worldwide.

In all, there were thirty different releases of the KD 6 (in base, Premium, EXT, and Elite form), but here at Sneaker News, we decided to chop the list down and rank the fifteen best of the bunch.
