While various Air Jordan Lows have certainly had plenty of shining moments through the years, they’re typically seen as the little brothers to the iconic original designs that came before them. This weekend’s release of the Air Jordan XI Low “Concord” will no doubt be a resounding win for the AJ Low legacy, so we’re celebrating the inevitable triumph with a look back at some of the SN staff’s all time favorite additions to the Air Jordan Low arsenal in this edition of Staff Insights.

What began with their infamous SB Dunks has evolved into a diverse arsenal of Nike footwear collaborations that have since gone on to transcend the skate category and tap into some beloved street style icons as well. Yesterday, Jordan Brand introduced the world to the Air Jordan XX9, a woven one-piece upper design that again makes use of the Flight Plate cushioning system. It’s no secret that not all of the legacy models have set the sneaker world on fire the way those early Air Jordan offerings did, but there’s no denying some of the bold achievements they’ve made along the way in the name of performance and innovation. It seems like after the XIV, many of the later models tend to remain a bit more obscure than their uber-iconic predecessors, so with the latest game shoe being revealed this week, it seemed like a perfect time to shine some light on some of the best post-2000 installments. Thirty-two hopeful Nike LeBrons were hand-selected to take part in our Sneaker News March Madness Nike LeBron Tournament, and after weeks of voting, we’ve finally narrowed it down to one true champion. It wasn’t much of a surprise that the earlier models were the ones to exit early, because the Nike LeBron signature line didn’t take off until the era of Jason Petrie and Miami. As the field was narrowed down to sixteen, eight, four, and two, it was clear that the golden era of King James’ sneaker history is certainly post-Decision, and the final match-up was a perfect representation of this change. The LeBron 10 Cork, which signified LeBron’s greatest achievement as a Miami Heat, and the LeBron 8 South Beach, which served as a turning point in LeBron’s career, went head to head in the Final round, but only one can be called the winner. Before we reveal the victor, we’d like to thank all of our fans that participated during every round of voting, and your involvement is the sole reason why we can crown this sneaker as the King of LeBrons. The Air Jordan XX9 is coming. As we’ve mentioned previously, the sneakers will be unveiled at an exclusive Jordan Brand event that’s scheduled for next Thursday, April 17th. The silhouette isn’t supposed to launch until Fall, but Jordan has decided to show the world what they’ve cooked up way ahead of time, and Sneaker News will be on hand to give you the best coverage out there. Unfortunately, the general public won’t have access, but as long as you keep it locked in here, you’ll get all the first-hand views and info you’ll ever need. In this ultimate battle between two great LeBrons, one victor will arise as the best LeBron to ever do it. So which will it be?
