Ray Allen, whose name was already in Hall of Fame discussions, pretty much solidified his spot among the greatest of all time when he became the all-time leader in three-pointers made when he broke Reggie Miller’s long-standing record on February 9th. Jordan Brand hooked up its longest-tenured Jordan Brand basketball athlete by outfitting him in a Player Exclusive colorway of the Air Jordan XIII in White/Green with his ‘Ray’ logo on the tongue. That night was certainly one of his key moments of his career, and in the sneaker world, his Air Jordan PEs were the talk of the town. Recently, a release of the Air Jordan XIII Ray Allen PE was rumored to go down, and here we have yet another look at this likely super-limited release. As the temperatures continue to increase this month, the Air Jordan VII ‘Cardinal’ will be the latest addition of heat to the thermometer. In what has already been a busy June for Jordan Brand with the releases of the Air Jordan III ‘True Blue’ and Air Jordan 2011 ‘Warrior Pack’, the Air Jordan VII ‘Cardinal’ is returning this Saturday after a five year hiatus. The white based shoe and a favorite of Michael Jordan during the 1991-92 season is hitting stores just in time for the summer seasonWill you follow in the footsteps of Wiz Khalifa and rock these as well? Seeking revenge for their 2006 loss, the Dallas Mavericks are hell-bent on winning their first ever NBA Championship. Thanks to the clutch shooting of Jason Terry and Dirk Nowitzki, the Mavericks will return to Miami up 3-2 in the NBA Finals, just one win away from glory. On the footwear side of things, the Miami Heat have been keeping us interesting with their team-oriented colorways, and for Game 5, they went with black-base colorways after going the tonal-red route in Game 4. LeBron James wore the Black/Red PE of the LeBron 8 P.S. and Dwyane Wade wore a Black/Red PE of the Jordan Fly Wade. The Mavs went with a basic White/Blue/Black theme, led by Dirk’s Nike Hyperdunk 2010 PE. June 6th, 2011 is the 67th anniversary of ‘D-Day’, the invasion of Normandy by the Allied forces during the World War II which ultimately turned the war in Europe in the Allied forces favor. In commemoration of this event, the sneaker art house, ROM used this event as the inspiration behind the customized Air Max 90. This Air Max 90 customs features a military green colorway that has battle scars throughout the shoe to highlight the grittiness and intensity of war. To continue with the military theme, ROM included military style lettering in white as well as their logo. The ‘D-Day’ custom by the sneaker art house is very SBTG-ish and like the SBTG style they are also very limited with twenty pairs produced. The Nike Air Max JR is the latest Nike shoe to receive the fusion treatment with the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 upper being joined with the Air Max 360 sole. The Dark Grey/Club Purple-Volt colorway is the latest of colorways of this Nike mashup, and although this is a non-Seattle or Cincinnati colorway, it does feature a colorway that has turned out be very popular when applied to the Air Max line. The upper is a tonal dark grey with purple mesh lining the tongue, swoosh and 360 outsole for a regal look, with a hint of volt on the lace placket for a spark of color. The recent retros of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 were well received and highly praised by the sneaker community and Griffey enthusiasts who longed for a reissue of the slugger’s first signature shoe with Nike. The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Black/Freshwater will be retroed this summer for the time and from the responses we’ve received, this colorway is highly anticipated and if its anything like the White/Black-Freshwater pair these are sure to fly off the shelves fast. The Black/Freshwater colorway is one of the original Air Griffey Max 1 releases and from the latest images, it appears that Nike did this retro the justice it deserves. UPDATE: There’s been a bit of confusion on the color for this pair of Air Griffey Max 1, we’ll clear up the confusion asap.
UPDATE 2: The official word from Nike. We have confirmed with Nike that the upcoming Nike Air Griffey Max 1 is in fact officially called “Freshwater”. The original colorway was Deep Emerald. Nike also confirms that Deep Emerald and Freshwater are nearly identical so officially these are Freshwater but calling them Deep Emerald can also be correct.
