The Nike Air Foamposite One ‘ParaNorman’ has mostly managed to beat out the ‘Galaxy’ in terms of secondary market demand, the super limited run available only via the #WeirdWins contest and subsequent charity auctions. It looks like you’re hopes of grabbing a pair for less than a few grand aren’t out the window yet though, as Gentry Humphrey of Jordan Brand/Nike Sportswear fame recently hinted at the possibility of a retail release via Twitter. LeBron James’s first NBA Championship was a long time coming, but the moment finally arrived this past June, and you can best believe that the corks were popping and the champagne was flowing. To further honor King James’s first ring, Nike has whipped up a special edition of the LeBron X featuring a genuine cork material on the upper that has previously not been seen on too many sneaker models outside of the Air Force 1 Bespoke program. In addition to commemorating LeBron’s 2012 NBA title, the “Cork” LeBron X also marks another important first for the Swoosh in that it is the first in a line of upcoming Nike Basketball releases to crossover with Nike Sportswear for premium non-performance versions of their high-profile bball models. We’ve already seen the Kobe 8 Lifestyle, but it appears that the Nike LeBron X “Cork” will beat it to the punch as the first NSW signature model to hit retail when these drop in limited quantities this December. Keep reading for more info and images and stay tuned for news on a specific release date coming soon.

There’s a lot of buzz right now around Dwyane Wade and the recent announcement of his partnership with Chinese footwear brand, Li-Ning and last night, Sneaker News was lucky enough to catch up with the man of the hour for a few quick questions about the move and his new role as Chief Brand Officer of his own sub-brand. With only a short amount of time to get answers, we asked Dwyane some big picture questions regarding the future of the brand and what the impact of this signing can mean for both Li-Ning and NBA sneaker endorsement deals. Growing up in Chicago, Dwyane Wade idolized Michael Jordan, so it was a great honor for him to follow in his hero’s footsteps and represent the Jumpman for Jordan Brand. That partnership has ended and a new one has been formed, this time with Dwyane pulling another move out of MJ’s playbook, albeit for a different team now. It has already been reported that Wade will be joining Li-Ning, but the plot thickens a bit, as it looks like there will be a little more to the story. Like Mike branched out on his own with his own signature brand, Dwyane will be partnering with Li-Ning to launch WADE Brand, a division still operating under Li-Ning, but centered around all things D-Wade. The “Way of Wade” will be his first signature shoe as seen below and in previous posts, and will be followed by additional models, apparel and even gear for kids. Read more about today’s big announcement after the jump and stick with us for more on this intriguing new endeavor.

“I’m supposed to be the franchise player, and we in here talkin’ about practice! I mean, listen, we talkin’ about practice. Not a game. Not a game. Not a game. We talkin’ about practice.”
The press conference clip is infamous. Allen Iverson‘s heart, toughness and love for the game of basketball are indisputable, but when it came to his feelings about practice … well, let’s just say he wasn’t losing any sleep over it. Over the course of his legendary career, an undersized AI regularly drove to the hole into a forest of frontcourt trees with reckless abandon and no regard for the beating he would take as a result. He left it all on the court every night and played hurt on a regular basis, so can you blame him for not being all that worried about the further abuse his body would take in practice, not to mention the extra miles it would put on his game kicks.
Years later, Packer Shoes has teamed up with Reebok to present the Question Mid “Practice Edition”, a shoe designed for AI to wear on the practice floor, that may or may not have ever been worn for those purposes. From the nubuck upper and classic Sixers color scheme to the 7/6 Philly nod on the heels, the 3M midpanel hit to the rising star motif found on the toe and insoles – why would anyone ever want to scuff or crease these up in the name of practice of all things? Well, now the choice will be yours as these will be hitting the public for whatever activities your heart desires, practice or otherwise. These will probably not make your teammates better, but they’ll look good doing it, so stay tuned for further release info on this juicy October drop coming soon.
