While Round 1 of the Sneaker News March Madness Non-OG Air Jordan Tournament saw a fairly even split of close battles and blowouts, the Sweet 16 round was nothing short of a bloodbath. All eight victors made short work of their opponents without breaking a sweat with seven favorites moving on and the Tokyo23 Air Jordan V as the single upset, as its Cinderella rampage continues to snuff out some tough competitors. The Sweet 16 played out to be pretty one-sided across the board, but with a look at the Elite 8 match-ups, things should be heating back up with the quickness as soon as we tip off the voting later tonight. The Sneaker News March Madness Non-OG Air Jordan Tournament Voting continues with the fourth and final region – the Southwest. Not surprisingly, each of the four that has advanced to the Sweet 16 Round is a definite classic and more importantly, a ‘true’ Retro. No ‘PE’ or ‘Friends & Family’ – all were available in stores upon release. The #1 seed, a heavy favorite to win the entire Tournament, faces of against the second #5 seed of the Sweet 16 in the Black/Chrome VIII, while another Cool Grey Retro faces off against what is arguably the best remixed Chicago Bulls colorway ever. Behold the Nike Air Yeezy 2 in all its glory! After countless peeks via paparazzi shots and camera phone pics, we finally get our first set of detailed images of Kanye West’s second Nike shoe. Here we see the Wolf Grey/Pure Platinum colorway from multiple angles and exposing all sorts of goodies like our best look yet at the Horus-inspired tongue logo and some additional Yeezy hieroglyphics on the velcro beneath the the midfoot strap. We also get a better indication of the luxurious upper materials, the Torch mesh in the tongue, the chunky metallic lace tips and a nice crisp view of the Yeezy 2 dustbag seen last night. These are set to hit worldwide retailers like Singapore’s Limited Edt on April 13th, so dig into these pics and you’d better start gameplanning for the release if you’re hoping to get a pair. No upsets thus far, but could we be in for a surprise with the following two match-ups? Upsets, blowouts, down to the wire nail-biters – Round 1 of the Sneaker News March Madness Non-OG Air Jordan Tournament had them all. While most of the higher ranked seeds advanced, there were plenty of close battles along the way and even three upsets – including a #2 seed knockout which is fitting with two number 2′s going down in Round 1 of the NCAA tourney. With the polls open for both coasts of the Sneaker News March Madness Non-OG Air Jordan Tournament, it’s time to focus in on the sixteen Air Jordans appointed to the middle-regions of the field. We’ll start with the Southwest Regional, led by the Air Jordan VI ‘Olympic’ at the #1 seed and solidified by two popular ‘Cool Grey’ renditions, the rarest Air Jordan Premio, and a slew of other hitmakers. The polls for the Southwest are now officially open so make sure you place your vote, and if you haven’t voted in the East or West region yet, we’ve got the direct links for you just below.
