Following the full on denim look for the Nike Air Force 1 Low we saw last year, a more trimmed back approach seems to be in order for 2012. You’ll recall the full preview we dropped on you a few months back, a few from which are starting to make their way into retailers as of now. First it was the salmon toned version, and now this Mets looking colorway is the latest to appear. Storm blue on the upper pairs with vivid orange on the swoosh, with the faded denim twiill hits mixing into the paneling to bring on the lifestyle look. Nike Sportswear Black History Month 2012 – Release Reminder

Nike’s motto for 2012′s Black History Month is ‘Uplift’ – a strong message highlighted by its brevity and stoicism. The signature graphic print and distinct colors seen on these four Nike Sportswear releases was developed by Nike designers, inspired by the International African culture and drawing visual cues from Kenyan beads, African-American quilt-making, and even the Brazilian Carnivale, and the entire capsule itself is a gesture of celebration of the achievements of three significant teams – the ’96 USA Womens Basketball team, the ’02 Brazil Mens Soccer team, and the ’08 Kenyan Long-Distance Running team. The NSW Black History Month collection will be available at select Nike Sportswear retailers; however, the release of the Air Max 1 has been postponed to a future date. Keep in mind that only the Air Force 1, Blazer, and Huarache Free 2012 will be available tomorrow!

February 11, 2012: Biggest Release Day Ever?

Sure, some solitary sneaker releases like the recent Air Jordan XI ‘Concord’ Retro and a few others have packed as much (or more) anticipation and frenzy, but we’re not sure if there’s ever been a date in sneaker history with so many high profile releases all dropping on the same day. Where do we start? How about the Dave White Air Jordan 1 which has been heavily previewed and eagerly awaited while sitting in limbo without a confirmed release date? Or maybe the Nike ‘Black History Month’ Collection featuring Nike Basketball’s three-headed signature model monster and an accompanying set of four NSW offerings? Still not cracking your wallet open? Perhaps the ‘Old Royal’ Air Jordan X will change your mind. Or with Valentine’s Day on the way, maybe it will be a pair of the ‘Voltage Cherry’ Air Jordan IV GS for the lady or little lady in your life. Last but not least is the ‘Dynamic Blue’ colorway of the popular Zoom Rookie LWP model which has thus far been absent from the 2012 release schedule until now.

Quite a crop indeed, and while there is no singular release in the eleven sneakers anywhere near Concord-ian magnitude, the sum of all these parts adds up to quite possibly the most action-packed release date we’ve ever seen and a lot of difficult decisions for sneakerheads everywhere. Oh yeah, and by the way, White/Cement Air Jordan IV’s drop next Saturday and the All-Star weekend batch at the end of the month may trump this week’s bonanza. Hottest month ever? Foot Locker thinks so. Time to smash open those piggy banks and gear up for month long release mayhem, all starting tonight at midnight on NikeStore and nationwide at brick and mortar retailers like Extra Butter. It goes without saying that if you are wearing a camouflage sneaker you aren’t necessarily trying to blend in. The latest range of Nike Air Force 1 Low’s with the camo treatment has solidified that notion, as the print itself is applied in a tastefully minimal way usually reserved for the back end of the sneaker. Of course this colorway in a new blue known as ‘soar’ is an especially poor choice if you’re trying not to be seen, as the clear-skies look is sure to break a few necks. One of Nike Sportswear’s biggest hits of 2011 was an Air Force 1 Low Premium cast in denim with golden accents plus all the detailing of a finely crafted pair of raw Japanese selvage. So what happens when you take that formula and invert it, making gold the dominant color and switching denim to select accent hits? Only good things, as evidenced by this new Nike Air Force 1 Low in Jersey Gold with Sport Red accents, a look that utilizes a denim-like twill on its underlay while smooth leather rests on top. Nike Air Force 1 Low ‘BHM’ – New Images

Like most of the themes and holidays we’ve explored over the past year or so, Nike’s output for Black History Month 2012 has been its most expansive so far. The Nike Air Force 1 Low has been around the longest, and this year’s model anchors a collection that spreads its theme across four Nike Sportswear silhouettes and three more from the Basketball division. Key details include the ‘UPLIFT’-emblazoned, wildly patterned sockliner and footbed, a print duplicated on the translucent bottoms of this otherwise earthy suede design. So they’re a break from the ongoing black and gold BHM theme from years gone by, but quite strongly tied to the rest of this year’s Nike Black History Month releases; where do they stand in each category? What was a concerted effort from Nike Sportswear last season has turned into something of a mystery this spring, as VacTech construction has gone from playing a major role in the holiday shopping season to now popping up without warning or a special label. These new Nike Air Force 1 Lows are like a pair that dropped around New Year’s, both opting for vacuum construction on the rear with sewn-on toecaps and heel tabs, and neither featuring the ‘VT’ distinction that labeled a huge number of VacTech builds in late 2011.
