Saturday, October 10th, 2009.  The day that the House of Hoops opens at Northline Mall in Houston, TX could very well be the last, considering the ridiculous fire hazard that’s sitting in there.  They really brought the heat for this opening, and while the Cherry Hill, NJ store got some love of its own with a duo of Philly Hyperizes for the occassion, when you get a look at the list of stuff they have in store, you might think somebody in Foot Locker corporate was from ‘Space City’.

The Astros and Rockets were both named for Johnson Space Center and each gets its own Hyperize, but that’s just the start.  Jordan Brand offers its own duo with the bred Air Jordan Force XIII (AJF 13) and a brand new Air Jordan 1 High Strap in white with navy and red accents.  Rounding out this apparently incomplete list is a huge run of reissues from earlier HoH-exclusives including, but not limited to (deep breath): Hypermax Tennis Ball Pack, Reggie Miller Air Total Max Uptempo PE, Air Penny II Retro in black and copper, Zoom Kobe IVs for Lower Merion and Rice, Zoom LeBron Soldier IIIs for Christ the King and SVSM, the Phi Slamma Jamma Big Nike High and the Hyperize Decades Pack (whew!).  Check out photos of these tape-cutting kicks in just that order and if you’re in H-town, head over to Northline and check it out.

Were his Comedy Central show still on the air, Dave Chappelle might have ammo for another ‘Haters Ball’ skit with this release.  The Air Jordan Force XIII (13) represents the biggest stretch so far for the AJF series.  Not only is the signature element of the AJF series, its Air Force 1 sole, altered to include the Air Jordan XIII’s sole pods, but the AJ13’s toe had to be resculpted to match.  If you like the way these came together, you can cop them from ID4Shoes on eBay.

The controversy whether or not the introduction of Fusions has degraded the sneaker game could be the topic of a lengthy debate amongst sneakerheads on the corner one afternoon.  Regardless what your view, hybrids and mashes of Nike and Jordan classics have come a long way.  The AJF13 is new to the roster of the success (or failure) of the fusion concept.  The dimpled outstep upper (which makes these look like the Scarface’s from the front), the 23 hologram, the cat paw midsole.  All facets that make the 13’s such a memorable sneaker, and when applied, make the Air Force 1 almost unrecognizable.  Enjoy the new pics, and expect these to drop in time for last-minute holiday shopping. via Kenlu.

Nelly was spotted out in London leaving his hotel with a crisp pair of the recently released Air Jordan Force Fusion IV’s (4) in Black, Varsity Red, and Stealth on. The rapper then was seen partying at London nightclub, Maya. Nelly is one of the few celebrities that we typically always see in Air Jordan’s, so it comes as no surprise that he’d have a pair of these AJF 4’s on. Images of the first colorway of the Air Jordan Force Fusion XIII popped up a while back and were not greeted with a very warm reception. There are a lot of Fusion haters out there, but the AJF 13 seemed to cause more of a backlash than usual. Now we get a look at another colorway of the shoe, once again taking its inspiration from an OG color scheme. This time around, it will be the Black/Varsity Red treatment for the Air Jordan Force Fusion XIII, providing a slightly more subtle look than the first version, but still awkward enough that the anti-Fusion crowd will not be likely to change their mind about these anytime soon. Although they have already been available early at certain retailers, the Black/Varsity Red/Stealth edition of the Air Jordan Force Fusion IV will officially be released this weekend. The AJF IV is doing its part to help bring credibility to the Fusion line, which as many sneakerheads will tell you, is no easy task. While some past Fusion models like the Air Jordan Force Fusion XX and the controversial upcoming AJF XIII seem to have no business blending an Air Jordan with an Air Force 1, the AJF IV seems to make a much more seamless transition. Thanks to its low cut and design simplicity, these kicks come about as close to the original Air Jordan IV as you’re going to get outside of an actual Retro release. Whether you love or hate this Fusion version of one of the all-time great shoes/colorways in the legendary Air Jordan arsenal, be aware that they will be hitting nationwide retailers tomorrow, August 29th, for your purchasing or ridiculing pleasure.  Photos: StepToRun

Many Fusion haters seem to be letting down their guards when it comes to the Air Jordan Force Fusion IV. Aside from the Air Force 1 midsole, the rest of the shoe is nearly identical to the original design, making it hard to find too much to complain about when it comes to these. Many will make the point that producing new alternate versions of classics like the Air Jordan IV somehow cheapens the legacy of the originals, but sometimes when you can’t beat them, you’d might as well join them. As far as Fusions go, this Black/Varsity Red/Stealth colorway of the Air Jordan Force Fusion IV does justice to the OG model at a level that will be hard to top, not to mention hard to pass up.

We know how many of you loathe the concept of Fusions and everything about them, but when you’re looking at these in the store next month, it might be more difficult than you’d expect to ignore the fact that they are so similar to the original Air Jordan IV’s, which are one of the most beloved Air Jordan models of all-time. Those who are not swayed by the Fusion factor can already get a pair from 95soleman on eBay.
