The past seven days has been one of the biggest weeks for Nike and Jordan Brand; we’re right in the middle of the World Basketball Festival and two great Jordan Retros – the Air Jordan IX and Air Jordan VII ‘For the Love of the Game‘ – just dropped and the Foamposite Air Force 1 will make its way into stores as well. For those who are into the Air + Air Fusions, the well-received Air Jordan Force Fusion XII in Obsidian will release, as will a new colorway of Black/Sapphire. The Obsidian Fusion is definitely on the better end of the AJF catalog while the Black/Sapphire joints add some interesting color to a shoe that always sparks debate. Both the Obsidian and Black/Sapphire Fusion XII will release tomorrow at Jordan Brand Retailers, but you can also pick up the Black/Sapphire pair on eBay.

The name ‘Mark Smith’ is synonymous with laser etching and releases like the Air Jordan XX and AJIV ‘Laser’ have ensured that he’ll have a place in history even beyond the wacky HTM designs. The latest pair of kicks with some laser love are the Air Jordan Force IVs (AJF 4) pictured above. A clear takeoff on the aforementioned AJIV, these joints add a dense array of MJ-related symbols and insignias to a mostly black nubuck design. A translucent black midsole proves to be a good transition to the Stealth grey outsole, and you can see a bunch of new photos of these AJF4s after the jump. via in52

Blue Sapphire and Cyber accents on a mostly-black Jordan; didn’t we just see that? The answer is ‘yes’ and just like the AJ1 that came before it, this new Air Jordan Fusion XII (AJF 12) looks dope in the ‘blacklight’ colorway. This pair of Fusion XIIs offers a deeply-pebbled leather laid atop black nubuck, all of which is held together with blue and yellow contrast stitches. These would make quite a statement for back to school and they’re available now from select Jordan Brand retailers including StepToRun on eBay.

This past Monday, Sneaker News showed you an upcoming Air Jordan Force Fusion IV that featured the popular Laser feature that was introduced in the earlier part of the decade. Mark Smith’s Laser Project resulted in an awe-inspiring collection of classic Nike silhouettes and soon it made it’s way onto the midfoot strap of the Air Jordan XX and then later on two limited colorways of the Air Jordan IV. This upcoming fusion adopts the Black/Varsity Red colorway and does its best to get every possible detail down, but the restrictions of the Air Force 1 midsole do not allow this Fusion to take on the black/medium grey midsole from the original version. An interesting concept in the eyes of Jordan fans and a must-have for AJF collectors, the Air Jordan Force Fusion IV Black Laser should be a hit once it drops. In 2005, Jordan Brand released two limited edition special colorways of the Air Jordan IV. Both featured classic color-combos of the AJIV – one after the White/Varsity Red ‘Mars’ and the other after the classic Black/Medium Grey – but with a special touch; the uppers of both featured intricate lasering that was found on the in-step strap of the Air Jordan XX. Both pairs of the Air Jordan IV Laser were an online-only release and came packaged with a hat and a t-shirt, and today have a value above $350 in the open market. The highly sought after Laser IV is considered to be one of the best Air Jordans of the decade and with limited numbers and this upcoming colorway of the Air Jordan Force Fusion is surely to take that same title among the Fusions.
Here’s a look at the Air Jordan Force Fusion 4 Laser, which features a colorway taken from the 2005 Black Laser; the upper features the sophisticated lasering touch on a black nubuck based, with cement grey lace wingtips and heel, sitting atop a black midsole and cement grey bottom sole. Many of the Fusions we’ve seen thus far have merely taken colorway options from the OG Air Jordan catalog so this Laser AJF IV is a nice addition to the quickly growing AJF line. Arguably the most popular colorway of the Air Jordan V returns tomorrow in Air Jordan Force Fusion form, as the AJF5 ‘Grape’ officially hits Jordan Brand retail stores tomorrow. While Fusion fans have been patiently waiting for the Grape colorway to drop, the new colorway releasing alongside it is definitely a fresh new colorway with a summer-time vibe. The combination of white, spice, light retro, and black should invoke feelings of Miami’s South Beach and the tropical atmosphere. Both colorways feature the classic Air Jordan V styling, with the fighter-jet “teeth” on the midsole, translucent netting on the sidewall, and the gaudy 3M-tongue. Just yesterday, Sneaker News showed you a new colorway of the Air Jordan Force Fusion 5 that featured a tropical mix of white, spice (a red/orange), light retro (a greenish aqua) and black. The shoe sparked a lengthy debate, but the fact is, it all comes down to “wear it if you like it”. There are plenty of fans of the Air Jordan Force Fusion, and this new colorway seems fitting for the season. The upper features perforated leather panels with a pebbled leather front end for a nice mix of materials. If you’re still looking to add these to your collection, you can pick up a pair from steptorun on eBay.

Last Sunday Sneaker News dropped a first look at the next Air Jordan Force Fusion that was up to bat; the Air Jordan X. Inspired by the White, Black, and Steel Grey colorway (commonly referred to as the Air Jordan X ‘Steel’), this first colorway of the Air Jordan Force Fusion 10 matches its Jordan counterpart piece by piece. The design of the shoelace apparatus is nearly identical, as is the Jordan branding on the heel and strap. The inner lining of the Air Jordan X is also one of the most recognizable designs of the shoe – a checkered gingham plaid-like textile – and just so happens to make its way on the AJFX.
