One that Engineered Mesh offers aside from the a lightweight advantage is supreme breathability – something that the older suede/mesh combos simply can’t match. That’s what makes EM material so perfect for the upcoming Summer season – especially when colored up after the legendary beaches in Rio de Janeiro. We recently showed you the Nike Air Max EM “Beaches of Rio” Pack, which includes the four original Air Max models, and here we’re getting a nice detailed look at the Air Max 1 of that bunch. Although it grasps the colorways of “beach” well, is the colorway too loud? Check out the photos and expect these to hit select NSW retailers worldwide soon, or see what’s available now on eBay.

For all the materials that have hit on the various Nike Air Max 1 styles over the years, straight up leather ranks sort of low on the ladder in terms of frequency. Injecting a bit more of that smooth surface into Tinker Hatfield’s immortal model is this pair, a brand new Nike Air Maxim 1 SP with a no frills black leather covering the upper. After that it’s a crisp white for the midsole and outsole (It’s hard not to let the imagination wander with regards to how sick these could have looked with a bit more black or perhaps a gum look on the very bottom). Click through for more angles on the Nike Air Max 1 SP in black leather and stay tuned for word on whether or not they’ll be hitting here in the states.

Nike Sportswear continues its juxtaposition of new and old with the second wave of original Air Max releases in “OG” and Engineered Mesh form. The original Nike Air Max 1, Nike Air Max 90, and Nike Air 180 colorways have been reinvented in two ways – one with vintage notes like the yellowed midsoles and classic materials and another with Nike’s dynamic Engineered Mesh technology – with the original Air bag cushioning remaining as the common denominator. These have begun to release at Nike Sportswear retailers around the globe so keep an eye out at your local spot and continue on for a full gallery.

The Nike Air Max Reinvented series of displays continues its world tour, most recently touching down at Clot’s Juice Hong Kong location. This time around the sneakers were on display in a group of connected tubes, each of them illuminated to highlight the bubbly designs within. Continue reading for a recap of the awesome set up from the Nike Air Max Reinvented Display out in Hong Kong and let us know which has been your favorite piece so far from the on-going reinvention of visible Air.

Nike Sportswear’s Air Max ‘Hometurf’ Collection continues with a model spanning the whole series in honor of the United Kingdom’s capital city. The ‘London’ Nike Air Max 1 2013 has a fairly unassuming if sporty look in black and white, but the red peeking out from the sockliner alerts you that something special is going on in there. A closer look reveals Union Jack striping on the innards, so check out more images below, then grab yours at NSW retailers including the UK’s own JD Sports.

We’ve seen several unique ways of revealing new sneakers over the past few years. This latest stands out not by offering an endless string of teasers or crystal clear HD video, but rather, a playful hand drawn style. That’s what British illustrator Josh Parkin did in conjunction with Leeds’ The Chimp Store, coloring up a series of forthcoming Nike Sportswear styles with playful backdrops suggesting a story deeper than the silhouette. The Nike Air Classic BW x Jaws homage above is the only one making an overt pop culture reference, so have a closer look to see what Parkin sees on the horizon and stick with Sneaker News for release info on the real thing.
