Nike Air Max 90 Essential – White – Grey – Black – Red

Any time a Nike Air Max 90 release mixes white, tonal greys, black and a bright red, it is going to draw comparisons to that iconic 1990 original colorway called ‘Infrared’. This one is an especially good example, with tons of overlap between the OG Infrared blocking and the way this new Air Max 90 Essential has been laid out. The key differences would be red inside the Air bubble instead of its sweeping frame, white on the ‘AIRMAX’ badge right above that, and red on both plastic eyestay elements instead of just the bottom. In other words, these are very close but still a fresh twist on a classic style, and they’re yours for the taking now at NSW doors like SNS.

It was available right out the gate on the Lunar edition and of course only a matter of time before the iconic Infrared original colorway made its way onto the Nike Air Max 90 JCRD. The implementation is a bit darker than the 1990 OG, with more black like a couple of the classic AM90s that have released over the past couple years. This twist on the Jacquard upper along with the Free forefoot positions these as one of the more distinctive ‘Infrared’ iterations in the Air Max 90 lineage; let us know where they rank in your personal opinion once you’ve seen more shots below.

Arriving right after the launch of the Nike Air Max Lunar90 is the choice for a Lunar platform for the silhouette-and there’s also the Nike Free one if you want a bit more flexibility (Not to mention glow in the dark versions of each). Light Crimson has quickly become one of the ‘it’ shades for spring 2014.  It plays a major role in a couple of Zoom Hyperrev colorways, stars on the ‘Year of the Horse’ Kobe 8s, and looks lovely in a supporting role, as we see on this newest Nike Air Max 90 SneakerBoot.  This mostly black design with a bit of grey relief and a half-white midsole puts Light Crimson on the inner bootie and Air bubble frame, the two signature elements of this AM90 Mid that launched a few months back.  There are more in store for the near future so stick with Sneaker News for updates and let us know how these compare to the pairs that hit retail in 2013.

Air Superiority: Nike Introduces “ICE”, “Lunar”, and “Jacquard” to the Air Max 90

nike air max 90 lunar jacquard ice 01 Air Superiority: Nike Introduces ICE, Lunar, and Jacquard to the Air Max 90

The Air Max 90 silhouette is arguably the most popular model of the Air Max line. While Air Max 1 loyalists or fans of later models adapting larger, more voluminous Air bubbles may oppose that statement, the 90 is what made the entire line such a massive hit on an international scale. This month, Nike is bringing three new viewpoints of the silhouette with the Air Max 90 ICE, Air Max Lunar90, and Air Max 90 Jacquard, with each model boasting its own unique advantage; the Lunar90 brings  no-sew construction, a compression-molded collar, and the famed Lunar cushioning, the Jacquard makes use of the centuries-old weaving process and a Free-grooved forefoot, and the ICE amplifies the striking visual of the clear sole inspired by the FuelBand of the same name. All three version will hit this month – the Lunar90 and Jacquard arriving this Friday, January 3rd and the ICE hitting retailers on the 25th, so check out the high-def gallery below and let us know which of the three you’re feeling the most.
