Nike Air Max 24/7 – Sneak Preview

We’ve seen plenty of Nike hybrids this year and though this is one of the last ones most purists would have asked for, we get a new perspective on how similar the original designs actually were. Through the lens of the new Nike Air Max 24/7, it’s easy to see how the OG Air Max 95’s tiered tonal greys gave way to the sweeping reflective lines that encircled its successor, the Air Max 97.

Their offspring uses a 95 silhouette that modifies the upper’s tiering by making it smoother/flowier. About halfway down, the AM97 mudguard kicks in, separated from the rest by a familar reflective 3M piping. If we go a bit further, it seems that another Air Max runner has been incorporated, and this time it’s the Air Max+ 2009’s 360 degree Air cushion. Nike Air Max 97 – Spike Lee Pack

Nike’s Spike Lee Pack is full of surprises. We saw the Big Nike High a while back and more recently a Blazer High with a similar colour scheme. Then last week, a sample popped up of an Air Trainer II LE that looked to give some insight into an earlier version of the theme. The latest surprise is this totally unhyped Nike Air Max 97 that popped up in white, black, red and green with no warning. Nike Spike Lee Pack – Air Max 97 + Big Nike High + Blazer High

Kinda like Nike’s new yet-to-be-properly-named regional series, their Spike Lee Pack keeps finding unexpected company. First there was a Blazer High and then a Big Nike High. More recently, we saw a sample pair of Air Trainer II LEs that didn’t make the cut, presumably because the pack opts for a deeper green. That’s a shade you’ll find on the two aforementioned retro ballers and the above pictured Nike Air Max 97 runner. The 97 looks right at home with a metallic silver upper that, aside from the green hits, looks quite a bit like its forebare from a distance. The perfed upper finds itself copied to the Blazer, while the Big Nike High is a clear callback to the OG Air Jordan 1. All three are available at Nike Sportswear retailers like Sneaker Bistro.

Nike Air Max 97 – OG Colorway – Metallic Silver – Red

This year saw retro releases of the OG colourways of Nike’s Air Max 1, 95 and 97. The last of that group found a European release in early summer, but many were bummed by the limited availability. Fret no more, my friends. The metallic silver Air Max runner that dropped with the series’ longest Air bubbles to date back in July 1997 is back with all of its red, white and black accents in tact. It’s unclear as of this writing if they’re an Asia-only drop this time, but we do know for sure that you can cop them from Hong Kong’s Kix-Files.

Celebrity Feet: Lebron James & Friends – More Than A Game Album Release Party

Lebron James along with a number of cast members, producers, and other celebrities attended the More Than A Game album (soundtrack) release party at Marquee in New York City this past Tuesday night. Notable celebrities who attended were Akon, DJ Clue, Wale, Tiana Taylor, DJ Webstar, Cory Gunz, Ester Dean, and more. Amongst all of these celebrities Lebron, Tiana Taylor, and Wale were rocking the best sneakers of the night. King James pulled out a pair of fresh Air Max 97’s while Tiana Taylor was seen wearing the “Hare” Air Jordan I’s, and Wale like the true sneakerhead that he is, supported James by wearing a pair of the Nike Zoom Lebron VI Los Angeles “Tale of Three Cities”.

Nike Air Max 97 – Black Patent Leather – Blue – Red

A dozen years later, and the Nike Air Max 97 still looks quite futuristic. This latest edition capitalizes on the sleek design by adding just a small twist to an otherwise tame palette. The upper is all black, save a silver strip of reflective 3M material, a colour repeated inside the signature long Air pockets. The tiny touches of blue and red might be enough for a classy design, but Nike added a sparkly effect to the patent leather mudguard, taking this release to another level.
