Ladies sneakers have become increasingly subtle in their femininity of late but here’s a look at two new pairs that get back to the old school in both model and coloring. The Nike WMNS Air Max Light is pictured above in a pair of new palettes that aren’t exactly pink-n-shrink, but there’s zero chance of mistaking them for a mens release as well. That’s thanks to a glittery finish on select elements that adds some life to the black/white/pink pair and helps the Aqua joints shimmer like a sunny day at sea. The Nike Air Max Light gets most of its cool factor from being an ‘in-the-know’ look thanks to mostly Euro-exclusive releases, but a huge variety of colorways based in blue certainly helps the chilled out vibe. Here’s a new AM Light that goes in the opposite direction, its all black design adding just a pinch of color on the tongue tag and Air bubble. There’s also a hint of white on the Mariah-style gridded underlay, but that only serves to make these come off more aggressive. The Nike Air Max Light will ‘live strong’ with great new colorways, like this black and tour yellow colorway similar to Lance Armstrong’s charitable organization. While there is no Livestrong designation to this pair, the colorway does a fine job fitting right in with the rest of the Livestrong colorways, while the contrast stitching on the upper adds its own personal dimension. Tour yellow accents on the Air Unit, lace eyelet, and tongue with a grey logo on the heel and outsole complete this all-new Air Max Light appeal. Another week, another fresh batch of kicks for the Top 20 of Sneaker News Blogs: WDYWT. Of course, there were a ton of great submissions with the likes of Air Jordan retros and Air Max selections, but the focus is on twenty pairs of shoes that have yet to be featured on the Top 20 as well as shoes that you just don’t run into on a daily basis. Given its initial release in 1989, it’s not shocking that the Nike Air Max Light bears undeniable similarities to both the Air Max 1 and AM90. The AM Light sports an Eighty-Seven-like mudguard along with plastic eyelets like you’ll find on the Air Max 90, and this newest WMNS colorway is somewhere between those two shoes’ four combined signature colorways. Brighter than Varsity Royal but not as intense as Laser Blue, the mudguard is certainly vibrant against a white/grey base, while a bright red tongue tag finds its place in the middle of V.Red and the Infra- variety. Yet another cool, calm, and collectible pair of Air Max Lights arrives in a grey, white, black, and aqua blue colorway. This particular pair features a nice mix of colors and materials, with a black patent leather swoosh, aqua blue accents on the upper lace placket and outsole tip, with a cool grey mudguard, but check out the white leather toe-box – something you don’t see often on a pair of Air Max Lights. For Air Max runners, suede uppers and mesh toeboxes are the fail-safe standard but hey, why not go outside the box for a change? Woah, nelly. Black, grey, white, and the beloved neon electric voltage green comprises one of the greatest sneaker colorways of all time. Of all time? OF ALL TIME. This new Dave White-esque Air Max Light travels down that righteous path, with a black mudguard and heel with an acute mix of grey, white, volt, and a metallic silver swoosh that should have Air Max runner fans foaming at the mouth and itching all over to get a pair. The Air Max Light has been M.I.A. in the states for a while but it’s still a heavy-hitter over in Europe, and Europe will probably be the only place to get these.
