Prior to the Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Galaxy’ and the Glow In The Dark bonanza, custom Foamposite extraordinaire Jason Negron introduced to us his ‘Light-Up’ Foamposite One Customs, which featured a complete LED light transplant embedded onto the outer border of the sole. Combining the Light-Up and the Galaxy ‘Glow’ is his Air Foamposite One ‘Galaxy’ Light-Up Customs, which features the remarkable ‘Galaxy’ shoe with the bright lights of the custom outsole. In addition to the LED lights, Negron applied Glow-In-The-Dark to the white stars on the Galaxy upper to further the ‘outer space’ experience, resulting in one of the most ambitious Foamposite customs to date. We’ve got a detailed gallery right ahead so let us know what’s swimming around your thoughts in the comments below and if you want to get your own Foams swapped to your liking, contact Jason Negron through his Sole Swap Facebook page.

Safe to say that all signs point to ‘release’ for these Zoom Rookies, because the Memphis Blues, formerly known as the ’1-of-1 Memphis Blues’, have been popping up quite frequently around the web. This latest viewing further details the tonal Blue colorway that emphasizes not only the Royal Blue benchmark of the Orlando Magic, but of Penny’s collegiate groundings at Memphis; with no break whatsoever, the ‘Memphis Blues‘ goes full-on blue, although a hint of orange and black would give these a sick ‘Memphis Tigers’ pop. Take a look below and we’ll keep you updated if more release information surfaces, so let us know if you’d cop these should a release go down. Photos: soleawesome

It’s rather impressive that the Air Penny continues to outwork Nike’s contemporary signature models with an astounding four signature releases in 2012 (Air Foamposite One, Zoom Rookie, Air Penny II, and Air Penny V). Arriving at retailers this June is the Nike Air Penny II in Soar/Cyber-White-Black, previewed in mid-January as a set of Quickstrike releases; Sneaker News now brings you an exclusive first look at this June 2012 drop, which features the familiar ‘Sprite’ ensemble on the classic Air Penny II model. Spotted at an exclusive event for the premiere of MTV2′s Hip Hop Squares (catch the show tomorrow evening at 11 PM on MTV2), this June release has the gumption to compete with the month’s other big-ticket items – especially if you’re an Air Penny fan. We’ll also keep you updated on the second high-energy Air Penny II colorway slated to drop alongside the Soar/Cyber release (which was alluded during the initial preview). You can find this upcoming Air Penny II release as well as a slew of other upcoming high-profile releases at Footaction in June, soon so check out the gallery of images below and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more updates.

The Second Round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs is mid-way through and we’ve already seen an impressive library of sneakers from the games biggest stars and even the lesser-known sneakerhead ballers. The two names to highlight this weekend are both from Los Angeles – Kobe Bryant and young swingman Nick Young of the Clippers; Kobe shed ‘Elite’ by wearing a White/Purple/Green PE of the Nike Zoom Kobe VII, which he followed with the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Christmas’, but Nick might’ve done him one better by wearing the Air Foamposite One ‘Royal’ during Sunday’s match-up against the Spurs, which followed an unprecedented appearance of the Nike Air Zoom Generation in the ‘First Game’ colorway. Of course, there’s much more to see, like Eric Bledsoe’s Metallic Red Foams, LeBron’s Black/Gold Elites, and Paul George’s sick Fade Option Kobe VII iD, so check it all out below and let us know who rocked the best kicks! Here’s an interesting thought: is there anyone in the NBA that should act as an ambassador to the Air Penny line, much like how Dwyane Wade continued the Air Jordan legacy until he gained his own signature shoe? There aren’t too many players that have Penny’s game, which can best be described as an amalgam of point guard instinct, shooting guard scoring, and small forward athleticism. It would be quite the surprising move if Nike created take-down Air Penny models and seeded them out to its Nike athletes, so who do you think would be on ‘Team Penny’? We’re certain the Air Penny V will be a popular go-to model once the 2012-13 NBA Season starts, so here’s another detailed look at the ‘Miami’ Penny V, with the opportunity to cop half a year in advance from skit_japan on eBay.

Intra-state rivalries are one of the best aspects of sports competitions. Yankees/Mets, Cubs/White Sox, Mavs/Rockets/Spurs – it’s all great, high-intensity fun. One of the more subdued territorial match-ups is between Orlando and Miami; both have stayed competitive in the NBA for several years (both the Heat and Magic have been the Eastern Conference reps for in two of the last three NBA Finals), but they never truly crossed paths in a nasty way. The upcoming Air Penny V will juxtapose ‘Orlando’ and ‘Miami’ colorways, so the question is – which of the two is better? The classic Magic vibe, or the Miami-specific Green/Orange? We’ve got another detailed look at the Air Penny V ‘Orlando’ after the jump so take a look and if you want these several months in advance, cop this sample pair right now from skit_japan on eBay.

It seems like Nike is simple going down the list of Penny Hardaway’s NBA employers and creating great colorways of his sneakers with them (although the Air Penny V ‘Miami’, which we showed you detailed images of yesterday, isn’t anywhere close to a ‘Heat’ get-up). Here we have a first close-up look at the ‘Phoenix’ colorway (remember when the Suns teamed Penny with Kidd in one of the more exciting backcourts in NBA history); it features the signature orange/purple detailing with a sick gradient ‘sunset’ effect on the midsole, going from purple at the forefoot to orange on the heel. We’ll drop more detailed images when they surface, but be advised that these are a tentative December 2012 release and should retail for $160. Photos: johnnyredstorm on ISS

It’s a great week for Foamposites, isn’t it? First, a teaser of the upcoming Gold Medal Foamposite Ones. Next, a full re-stock of Galaxy Foams at 21 Mercer. Next up, here’s a solid look at the upcoming September release of the Nike Air Foamposite Pro in the Metallic Silver/Crimson-Black colorway; it was first previewed during the Niketown Las Vegas x Air Penny event a few months back, but this close-up viewing gives us a good grasp of what to expect. In a nutshell? The 05 Metallic Silver Foamposite Pro with a slightly more lustrious upper and Crimson Red detailing on the outsole and upper. More shots below, so take a look and let us know what you think. Photos: BunBTrillOG
