2012 holds just one more release for the Nike Air Penny V – that would be the ‘Tour Yellow’ colorway pictured here that ends up pretty far outside the range of NBA squad associated pairs that have been popping up on the story telling side of this new design. The Nike Air Penny V ‘Tour Yellow’ also deviates from the norm via the subtle graphics whipped around the upper, with the back half getting a whispy floral print. The Nike Air Foamposite One has steered pretty clear of too many NBA team tie-in colorways, aside from the initial ‘Royal’ colorway to go with Penny’s Magic uniform and that rare ‘Knicks’ version that Spike Lee was blessed with earlier in the year. Pushing the envelope a bit is the Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Phoenix Suns’ shown here, which takes cues from the aforementioned ‘Royal’ with its blue base and then injects in some orange beyond the Foamposite sections. Will this pair hit retail and spin a career story out of the Nike Air Foamposite One like the recent string of Nike Air Penny Vs? New York Giants Wide Receiver Victor Cruz went from being a walk-on to the practice squad to being a Super Bowl Champion and one of a very select group of Nike athletes to represent the Nike x NFL partnership. Cruz has also gained some incredible notoriety in sneaker circles as he’s been spotted with an impressive rotation of sneakers in the name of Foams, Yeezys, Jordans, LeBrons, and more. He recently got a hook-up from fellow NJ-native Jason Negron aka Sole Swap, who presented him with a duet of Zoom Rookie customs done in NY Giants colorways and other details like Cruz’s jersey number on the heel and the Sole Swap logo on the tongue by Rebel Aire. Yesterday’s two-part featurette of Penny Hardaway’s personal collection featured quite a number of Penny V colorways, but up until this year’s release of the ‘Memphis Blues’ Nike Zoom Rookie LWP, there really hasn’t been a true Memphis Tigers tribute. That’s much in part due to the fact that Memphis’ colors and the most popular Penny composition of Royal, White, and Black overlap, but it’s good to see the Tigers getting their shine with this upcoming Penny V release. Matched with a nice detailing of stripes on the midsole and upper, this Air Penny V captures Penny’s alma mater perfectly (a small hint of orange would be nice). Earlier today we have you a glimpse into Penny’s personal Air Foamposite One collection, but the buck doesn’t stop there. Of course, the Foamposite One is just one of several Air Penny signature shoes to have released, so in this second showcase, Penny shows off other sick Nikes branded with his iconic 1-Cent logo. The most alluring feature of the Suns colorway of the Penny V is undoubtedly the gradient midsole, which seamlessly evolves from purple to pink to orange to capture a dazzling Phoenix-inspired sunset. Jason Negron, who has made his name swapping out outsoles in Foams, spins off his own calling card and switches up the midsole on these, matching the gradient colorization on the midsole to the outsole as well as on the upper paneling that surrounds the Hyperfuse material. You know Jordan has closets full of Jays in his house. So what the heck do you think Penny’s rolling with? The man behind the Foamposite phenomenon of the late 2010s and beyond is Anfernee ‘Penny’ Hardaway, the former NBA superstar that boasted the Air Foamposite One as one of his signature shoes. What we see here is probably just a fraction of all the incredible PEs and 1-of-1s he’s been presented with in the past, but this stash of Foams, from the basic general releases to the unreleased face-melters like the NYCs (note, his says NYC and not Spike) and the tonal-whites, is undoubtedly impressive. We can only hope Penny shows us his entire collection of kicks, but enjoy this showcase of Foamposites and stay tuned because there’s more to see!

The debut release of the Nike Air Penny V was in a special red/black/white colorway that paid tribute to Penny’s High School, so one could surmise that a ‘Memphis’ version would be on the way. Turns out this Royal/Black/White colorway we saw not long ago is indeed that Memphis Tigers package, complete with school colors and Tiger-stripes on the midsole and upper.
