Was This Nike Lil’ Penny Posite Intended To Be an “All-Star” Release?

nike lil penny posite all star 0 Was This Nike Lil Penny Posite Intended To Be an All Star Release?

The Nike Lil Penny Posite was a sneaker that seemed very much poised for a release during the 2014 All-Star weekend. Nike Basketball brought Lil Penny back on their social media channels during the festivities and the sneakers themselves seemed to have a bit of that NOLA Gumbo League flavor. Indeed a couple of retailers ended up selling pairs; we gave you a heads up about Wish ATL stocking them and some others have reported grabbing them at big box stores before they were apparently recalled. Those who were lucky enough to purchase have cemented the All-Star idea by showing off boxes very clearly sporting the NOLA theme. So are they still on their way? Last year NSW extended the “Area 72″ theme by dropping the Asteroid Foamposite Pro late in the year, so maybe they’ll end up doing the same with the Gumbo pack. See the Lil Penny Posites below and let us know in the comments if you’re excited to get your hands on a pair.

Nike’s criteria for signature shoe worthiness includes a series of qualities that only a select few have possessed. Part of this exclusive fraternity is Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, and a fictional puppet known as 1/2 Cent. We first saw the Chris Rock-voiced sidekick of Penny Hardaway in the mid-1990′s and since then, Lil’ Penny has grown in popularity as part of the burgeoning Air Penny signature shoe line. Back in 2009, Nike gave the diminutive guy due props with the Air Half Cent – a hybrid of all the Penny signature models. In 2014, Lil’ Penny is getting his own unique design – one that should carry on the Air Penny line while giving sneaker enthusiasts an all new design to get excited about.

Nike Air Force 1 Low ’07 “Penny”

December 18th, 2013 by | 14 comments

nike air force 1 low 07 penny 01 Nike Air Force 1 Low 07 Penny
There are at least two different ways to make a Nike Air Force 1 Low ‘Penny’. Both involve elements of the Air Max Penny 1 integrated into the iconic Uptown silhouette, but the one pictured above is the more conservative of the two. It omits the wavy side panels that characterize the AMP1 and its AF1 counterpart, sticking with a marbled glossy Swoosh that imitates the Jewel look on that original 1995 drop. This white Air Force 1 Low ‘Penny’ represents an unretroed colorway so refamiliarize yourself below, then get in on the action early with a pair from kicksclusive on eBay.

The first of at least two Penny Hardaway-inspired AF1s is arriving at retailers.  This Nike Air Force 1 Low CMFT ’Penny’ is the more overt of two Uptown silhouettes that are modified with components borrowed from the Air Max Penny 1.  This hybridization includes a molded wavy side panel embedded with jewel Swoosh, two-tone piping and tongue and an icey outsole, all from Hardaway’s first sigs in ’95 along with the Orlando Magic colorup.  The Air Penny line has been hotter than ever in recent years, so check these out with some new photos below and if you like what you see, get with Nike Sportswear retailers like Sneaker Bistro or cop them on eBay.
