The Air Yeezy is a collaborative sneaker created by the team up of rapper/producer Kanye West and Nike. To date there are two separate versions of the Nike Air Yeezy, with the first releasing in 2009 and the Nike Air Yeezy 2 releasing in 2012. Each colorway has been met with wild anticipation, massive lineups, and eventual sellout success.

The modern sneakerhead is tech savvy and detail-oriented, a combination that can occasionally overlap with the sense that you need to know where your phone is at all times. So if you find yourself checking your pockets on the regular, maybe it’s time to switch up your iPhone case and rock a molded texture borrowed from the Nike Air Yeezy 2. Quincy Design Co.‘s latest sneaker-inspired smartphone case adds some serious depth to your trusty companion, but do the added style and gripability mean it’s the best kicks-based case to date?

Back before every rapper out there wanted to be a sneakerhead, individual MCs were associated with one particular shoe. Snoop Dogg came on the scene rocking Chucks in classic West Coast form, Ghostface Killah proclaimed the arrival of the Wally Era, and Nelly told us all about his Air Force 1s. Four Pins ran through these rappers and more, and ranked each-apparently out of the top 2,500 rapper/shoe connections. Click through to check out the illustrations and let us know in the comments who your picks are for the other 2,495.

Have you ever had to make a massive move and whittle down your sneaker collection to a fraction of what it once was? We’re pretty sure that he didn’t do away with the rest of his collection, but it looks like Gilbert Arenas had to go through that sort of agonizing packing for his recent move out to China. Pictured here is Agent Zero posing with some of the heat he brought along with them, including the Nike Air Yeezy 2, Nike Air Penny V, and a huge helping of assorted Air Jordan retro heat. Hit the jump for the full photo and let us know if you approve of Gilbert Arenas’ sneaker rotation for his stay in China.

Mache’s Nike Air Yeezy 2 custom recently reminded us that around the time of release for that event sneaker, there was plenty of talk circulating about that Kobe-looking scheme being a third retail colorway. It appears that that’s not entirely out of the question, Nike arbiter Gentry Humphrey leaking out some info on the possibility via Twitter and assuring one inquisitive sneakerhead that things are “still in the works” for the Air Yeezy 2. Click through for a look at the convo and let us know in the comments below if you anticipate such a release being the ‘Kobe’ colored one or a Nike Air Yeezy 2 look that we’ve never seen before – if it happens at all, that is. You know we’ll keep you posted on any further developments.

The word “V-Chip” was a household term as 1996 rolled into ’97 here in the United States, as the Federal Communications Commission rolled out its Parental Guidelines to aide TV viewers with their content choices. The FCC’s initial ratings has stood the test of time unaltered, but a couple of sneakerheads who were rocking diapers during the rollout have exposed a flaw in the system. There’s no code to let you know that you’re about to see some serious heat on the screen (the ‘S’ sub-rating does NOT stand for ‘sneakerhead’), nor apparently is the government’s judicial arm prepared to understand the intricacies of our subculture.
“I have no understanding of this business at all,” admitted New York’s Honorable Judy Sheindlin, the typically mouthy presider, who on a Friday episode determined that a single wear of an un-DS’d ‘Zen Grey’ Nike Air Yeezy was worth $300 plus the gas it takes to get from VA to NJ and back again. The saga continues with a thread nearing 200 pages on the KTT forums (its printed first page a ‘key’ piece of evidence) and video uploaded to WSHH and YouTube; take the ongoing embarrassment as a suggestion to handle your business the right way. You can see the video in full with all the details after the jump below, then let us know if justice was served and if you’ve ever had a scenario that made you mad enough to call up Judge Wopner.

The sneaker community is still recovering from the massive release of the Air Yeezy 2, with the prospects of a new colorway still swimming around in the collective mind. While a third Air Yeezy 2 drop will shake things up for the Holiday season, nothing’s been confirmed as of yet. Taking matters into his own hands is custom crusher Mache Customs, who flipped a pair of the original Air Yeezy 2 (presumably the Wolf Grey colorway) to match the quizzical Kobe x Air Yeezy 2. It’s another spot-on product from Mache, with the exception of the Solar Red inner lining (the actual Kobe version has a light purple lining. A full shot of this custom is just ahead so take a look and let us know if this is Mache Customs’ best work yet.
