The Air Yeezy is a collaborative sneaker created by the team up of rapper/producer Kanye West and Nike. To date there are two separate versions of the Nike Air Yeezy, with the first releasing in 2009 and the Nike Air Yeezy 2 releasing in 2012. Each colorway has been met with wild anticipation, massive lineups, and eventual sellout success.

It’s here.
Possibly the most anticipated sequel to any sneaker in the history of the game is Kanye West’s second project with Nike Sportswear. The first Yeezy was introduced in 2009 (hope you remembered that proceeds went to a charity of Kanye’s choice) and has since created an indomitable legend in such a short period of time, causing an increased excitement about the the second Air Yeezy. Built on the Air Tech Challenge II outsole with design inspiration gathered from other classic Cross Training silhouettes, the Air Yeezy 2 draws upon the animalistic appeal with the anaconda-textured leather and reptilian-inspired spikes along the heel, but also serves true function as unnecessary padding was removed and the tongue and collar are both comfortable and breathable. Clearly, the shoe is slimmer and a bit lowered compared to the original Air Yeezy, as it was tailored to fit Kanye’s foot and designed for comfort and movement.
One of the highlight details of the Air Yeezy 2 is the selection of materials; a luxurious combination of rich leather, rugged ballistic nylon, and soft nubuck complete an awe-inspiring package of high-end feel. The added details refer ancient civilizations, like the emblem of Horus on the tongue, the hieroglyphics that spell out ‘YZY’, and ‘lace-lock’ holes that spell out the Roman numeral ‘II’. The Nike Air Yeezy 2 will release globally on June 9th at select retailers and will be very limited in number, so continue reading for these official detailed images and stay tuned for more updates regarding the release of what is surely one of the best sneaker releases of 2012.

Recently Sneaker News reported some Air Yeezy 2 release information coming from select sneaker boutiques in Australia, but given the shaky and sensitive nature of the sneaker, the June 9th release date was, to some, ‘tentative’. If you needed some additional signs that the June 9th release is still a ‘go’, perhaps this latest development is a sign that that the Air Yeezy 2 is scheduled to drop on time; a number of celebrities like Fat Joe, Big Tigger, Reg Yates, and DJ Clark Kent received their special VIP pairs in the mail, showing them off for the world to see. It might be rubbing it in our faces, but at least we do know that these are beginning to be seeded out in a timely manner. In addition, Nike Stadium in Paris reported that they will receive both colorways as well. Will you do what it takes to cop the Air Yeezy 2 next Saturday? We’ll keep you up to date regarding a firm list of release locations and guidelines, so feast your eyes on the collection of Air Yeezy 2s below and let us know which of the two colorways you’ll be on the hunt for.

Jordan hybrid sneakers are always under the careful scrutiny of purists of the brand, but surprisingly, the verdict on the Son Of Mars was reached rather quickly upon its debut release in February. A similar release known as the Rare Air of 2010 was, for lack of a better word, a flop, which made the popularity of the Son Of Mars are ‘suprise’. With a nice crop of upcoming releases on the way, like the ‘Bred’, the ‘Bordeaux’, and the new ‘Grey/Gold/Blue’, the Son Of Mars is staying put, but Mache Customs proved, with his sick Air Yeezy Customs, that perhaps the right colorway was all the shoe needed.
Today, we get a look at another Son Of Mars custom inspired by the Air Yeezy – the unreleased sample colorway worn by Kanye during his 2009 performance at the Grammy Awards. Done by Brian ‘Wolfstein’ Villanueva, this Mars x Yeezy custom adopts a similar tonal black upper, but with grey hits on the midsole, a hint of red on the outsole, and a powerful glow-in-the-dark toe, illuminating a refreshing blue glow. We’ve got a detailed gallery of this great custom work just below, so if you want to get a jump on some of Wolfstein’s crazy custom projects, follow Brian Wolfstein Villanueva on Twitter to be on top of his projects and let us know what you think of the Son Of Mars Air Yeezy’ Grammy’ customs below!

Updates regarding the Air Yeezy 2 release always seem to report a change, but just yesterday, Sneaker News provided you with a simple reminder that Air Yeezy 2 launch is still on schedule for June 9th in Australia. Production numbers are very limited (the entire continent of Australia is getting just 60 pairs total) so you can guess just how crazy the release will be (Nike’s nixing of camp-outs and midnight releases should definitely soothe the tension). While we’ve yet to see detailed images of the Black/Solar Red colorway straight from Nike, these continue to be spotted on the feet of some of Kanye’s and Nike’s VVIP (the extra V is intended); here we get a close-up On-Feet look at the Black/Solar Red joints from Jerry Lorenzo and you can clearly see the amount of detail that was packed into this sensitive project. More shots below, so take a look and stay tuned for more updates on the Air Yeezy 2.

Up until now, the Air Yeezy 2 has strictly been a ‘VIP’ only affair, with fellas by the names of Jay-Z, Shawn Pecas (one of Def Jam’s top dogs), and LeBron James being the very select group of people with the shoes on feet. The release of the Air Yeezy 2 has been subject to change possibly in response to the advanced camp-outs that were reported months before the rumored April 2012 release date, but confirmed data of a June drop later quieted the rumors of a complete cancellation of the much-hyped sneaker release. Since we provided you the info on a June release, not much more has been said regarding the shoe, but this latest update from Australian retailer Laced confirms that the Air Yeezy 2 ETA is right on schedule – June 9th, both colorways.
To get an idea of how limited they will be, the entire continent of Australia will receive sixty total pairs, and Laced will hold their own raffle to ensure a fair shot to those who attend their release party on the night of the release. We’ll keep you updated with more information regarding stateside release details, but keep in mind that June 9th is the target date for this summer blockbuster.

We’ve seen Ronnie of MTV’s The Jersey Shore show off his sneaker selection before, but for the most part his footwork up to this point has remained within the lines of Jordan Brand. Not anymore, as he recently switched to a regimen of Gym Tan Yeezy, wearing arguably the most coveted pair in terms of secondary-market value in the form of the black/pinks at the opening of LA nightspot AV. Stay with us after the jump to get a better look at Ronnie in the Nike Air Yeezy and let us know in the comments if you respect his sneaker game a bit more now that we’re seeing branch out beyond the typical Air Jordan offerings with such a sough after pair.
