ALIFE Everybody Hi ‘Official’ – Spring 2011

March 30th, 2011 by | No comments

alife everybody high summer 2011 zozo summary ALIFE Everybody Hi Official Spring 2011

New York’s ALIFE was one of the first boutiques to offer its own sneaker lineup and one that’s stood the test of time was probably not coincidentally an established silhouette.  The ALIFE Everybody borrows heavily from Nike’s Dunk vamp and adds a chunkier cup sole, this ‘Official Pack’ setting itself apart with prominent ‘a’ branding on the side panels of a canvas design with suede on the ankle collar.  Each pair features the same golden brown suede section, which looks quite different on white, tan and royal blue pairs, all of which should be available in the states shortly as they just dropped at Japan’s FLAUGE.

ALIFE Spring 2011 Footwear Collection

5536319396 680a659e12 b1 ALIFE Spring 2011 Footwear Collection

It’s been a while since we’ve detailed a new collection of footwear from ALIFE here on Sneaker News, but this spring 2011 collection simply demands attention.  Let’s start off with the familiar models including the Dunk-like ALIFE Everybody in Low Suede, Mid Parachute and High ‘Official’ looks covering a variety of muted tones.  There are high and low versions of the Chuck Indoor plus an outrageous version of the high Naval variant called ‘Posted’ for obvious reasons.  The Northeastern is a new Oxford-style lowtop, the Moc takes the classic boat shoe design down to a zero-eyelet look and perhaps the star of this collection offers a mix of those two’s features, the hand-sewn, Vibram-soled Lincoln moccasin.  It’s quite a run and you can see photos of selected colorways of each model when you click on the jump below, then look for these at select ALIFE retailers.

Everybody High Card Black 6 ALIFE Everybody High Card – Hidden Champion Pack

“If you like to gamble, I’ll tell you,” this is your shoe!  Taking a page from the mighty Lemmy, here’s a tribute to the ace of spades from the boys on Rivington Street, a new ALIFE Everybody Hi Card ‘Hidden Champion’.  These joints come in the black and red you might expect from a playing card deck, but aside from the heel insignias, the key design element is something you might have expected to hear from Jon Racener mutter after being crushed by Jonathan Duhamel’s massive chip lead in the recently concluded 2010 WSOP Main Event.  Click the jump below to read the hidden message and look for these at ALIFE retailers soon; they just hit Japan’s FLAUGE.

ALIFE Everybody Hi – Toxic Pack – New Images

September 30th, 2010 by | 2 comments

3 86 570x425 ALIFE Everybody Hi Toxic Pack New Images

ALIFE has set their Everybody High model apart from the Nike Dunk from which its silhouette is derived, using a range of wacky color and material options, with many featuring text as a key design element.  There are no words printed or sewn onto the latest pairs, and with the ALIFE Everybody High Toxic Parachute pack, the boys on Rivingon St. have one of their best efforts yet.  These three Everbodys are done in monochromatic ripstop nylon on the upper and add a contrasting shade to the sockliner and translucent soles.  Pairs in grey/blue and black/red hold their own, with the olive/orange joints perhaps the perfect manifestation of this theme.  Check out more shots of all three after the jump and look for these at select ALIFE stockists soon.  via CT

Nike Air Tech Challenge – Dissolved @ ALIFE

September 8th, 2010 by | 27 comments

nike air tech challenge dissolved at alife 1 Nike Air Tech Challenge Dissolved @ ALIFE

Trekking it out to the city in a pair of two-decade old OG Nikes is an incalculable risk that can be met with disastrous consequences despite a high reward of breaking necks and kicking it legitimately old-school. But there’s no spoiler alert necessary because you already know how this one ended: the midsoles of these OG ATCs completely dissolved and split lengthwise, leaving the heel fighting desperately to hang on while slapping up and down the pavement. ‘Twas the doomed ending of this original pair of the Nike Air Tech Challenge worn by beeibeei, a fearless female sneaker fiend who traded in her soul/sole for a date with a pair of OGs – but that courtship was cut short to no surprise.

Being within walking distance of ALIFE in the Lower East Side of Manhattan was a boon to this relatively catastrophic experience, and like all women do on bad dates, beeibeei left ‘em behind and hunted for fresh meat or a quick replacement. As she left ALIFE with her new pair of kicks, beeibeei was no longer hindered by the pins and needles that accompany the act of wearing vintage kicks – and although she may have enjoyed the few hours of living on the edge, doing a mental fist-pump after every city block successfully cleared, the Air Tech Challenge’s soul/sole was gone for good. She might’ve looked back once or twice as she left the store but when a sneaker arrives at the point of no return – depreciating to ‘unwearable’ vegetable status – there might be no reason to look back, as the shoe has no choice but to be glued together or mummified on a display case. Rest in peace, gone but not forgotten, additional cliche death-related statement. You’ve lived a long life, but it was time to go.
