A Japanese cult favorite that got a bit of much deserved attention here in the States after Jason Kidd returned to Nike, the Nike Zoom Uptempo V has just dropped in a couple new colorways. Both can be seen to tie in with J-Kidd’s Hall of Fame career, with one of these Zoom Flight Vs rocking a Phoenix Suns ‘home’ look and a black leather pair whose gradients manifest the tones that glimmered from the OG edition’s distinctive midsole jewel. Stick with Sneaker News to see if the Zoom Uptempo V ever makes it to US retailers (these are an Asia-Pacific exclusive) and let us know if you’d import a pair after seeing both in detail below.

The Nike Dunk High took a bit of a backseat in 2012 as older brother Air Force 1 celebrated a huge milestone with tons of heat, but finishing off the year with a super-limited collaboration suggests good things to come for this Swoosh basketball pillar. Bringing along a Japanese brand whose black/white stylings have previously graced Converse and Vans collaborations, this Dunk High Premium two-pack by mastermind JAPAN plays with glossiness and makes its presence obvious with huge heel branding. They’ll be on sale at select Japanese retailers this Saturday; does this kind of collabo have what it takes to make an impact on the US market as well?

United Arrows’ Beauty & Youth label started 2012 off with a collaboration with Briefing on the New Balance 1700, and it turned out so well, they came back alone for a second round. The latest Beauty & Youth CM1700s keep things simple and classy like the first edition, this time sticking to the other mainstay in NB’s established canon as grey suede and mesh give way to navy blue for the sequel. These go a step further, though, adding luxurious caramel leather down the middle for a tasty treat that hints at the ever-colorful footbeds we’ve come to expect from NB’s Japanese collabs. These are coming up with a February 2013 release date and available for pre-order now for customers within the Beauty & Youth shipping zone.

The latest Chuck Taylors with a zipper added for easy entry come from the same place that’s been responsible for the majority of these boot-ish interpretations of classic vulc-soled hightops: Japan. Following up on notable collaborations by mita sneakers, Nintendo and Nigo of BAPE fame comes a new ABC-Mart x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star set with striped pairs adding zippers to their lateral sides, while sherling-lined editions opt for bright shades on the traditional monotone canvas uppers. Check out the entire pack in more photos below and stick with Sneaker News in case a US shop gets some in stock.

New Balance continues its ongoing partnerships with both Oshman’s Japanese branch and mita sneakers, this time shouting out a trendy Cuban cocktail whose colorway is right at home on NB’s most famous silhouette. The Oshman’s x mita sneakers x New Balance ML574 ‘Mojito’ is based on the mix of rum plus muddled lime and mint, which results in a soft green and charcoal gum-soled design that’s every bit as refreshing as its namesake poured over ice. And being that all of these colors are quite neutral, these manage to stay within the New Bal wheelhouse while simultaneously embracing colors that’ve been so hot both individually and together in recent years. December 8th marks the second Saturday of the month and this pair’s release, so have a closer look below and let us know where these rank in the steadily growing cellar of spirit-filled sneakers.

The last time Tokyo sneaker boutique Kicks Lab collaborated on Thrasher’s Half Cab copycat they brought along local legends mita sneakers. This time the third participant is an equally notable name in the Asian sneakerhead community, but instead of a store, SBTG’s work has a distinctly after-market appeal. This new duo of SBTG x Kicks Lab x Thrasher Buchanan Dogs sees the Royale Fam leader apply his uniquely aggressive touch in the form of personalized tongue tags, bold heel embroidery and a newly implemented lace shroud. Click through to see the crossbones along with how suede and herringbone wool sections come together in this understated black and olive pairing and let us know where they rank against SBTG’s best custom jobs.

Much like Reebok’s Classic Leather and the Puma Suede, the Converse Pro Leather is a recognized icon that frequently deviates from the materials you’d expect from its name. In this particular case, it’s the suede we’ve seen in a variety of pleasing colorways of late, but thanks to CLOT’s eye for vintage good looks, the red/white combinations have been made rustier and have a well-aged vibe about them. They’ll arrive at Juice’s retail locations and their e-store along with a couple of matching tees following a Thursday, November 1st launch event at the Hong Kong door, continuing the string of Pro Leather First String collaborations that’s included Stussy and Patta (and don’t forget about those Aloha Rag joints), and will later add Bodega and St. Alfred. Stick with Sneaker News for updates on those and let us know which of the three sets we’ve seen is best so far.

The model above taken a backseat to the longer established Clyde and Suede recently, but don’t forget about Puma’s ’80s basketball models just because the ’70s were so dope. The Puma First Round Lo returns in a style made famous by one of the ‘other’ brand’s most famous designs of the ’90s, as the Japanese retailer Styles applies a black patent leather coating to this time-tested silo. Their smooth, sleek appeal is enhanced by perforations in the shape of the traditionally sewn-on Formstripe and gold branding on the heels plus a white sole puts them in line with 2012′s biggest color palette. A run of 300 pairs will be up for pre-sale at Styles on Black Friday, followed by a shipment ten days later on Monday, December 3rd, and you can see more angles below in the meantime.
