A Bathing Ape is known for their reinterpretations of American classics that have over the years included a variety of adidas-inspired designs, but this latest release sees Nigo connect with The Brand with the Three Stripes to collaborate on one of the ones he borrowed. The Bape x adidas Originals Superstar 80s ‘B-Sides’ is uncharacteristically calm for a Bathing Ape release, but then again, a quick look back over their recent offerings elicits a similar reaction. A simple off-white suede with navy blue leather accents and just a hint of gold on the tongue is a can’t miss colorway for summer, though they’re expected to hit retailers toward the tail end of the dog days with an August 13th scheduled release.

Japanese streetwear label A Bathing Ape would never be accused of borrowing anyone else’s original designs, right? Ok, so that’s a bit of blatant sarcasm, but to some, BAPE’s reappropriation of classic styles amounts to little more than biting. But Nigo’s brand is not without some self-awareness (it is named A Bathing Ape, after all), so when you consider the Bathing Ape Bapesta ‘Lettered’, it can be seen as more of an homage to last year’s Air Force 1 ’5 Boroughs Pack’ than an outright rip-off. Pairs in brown, blue, grey and green add tonal chenille Stars to their leather uppers, an accent color outlining the separation and pointing your eye to the heel where a safety-pinned varsity-style ‘B’ finishes off the letterman look. Click through to see more of all three and look for these now at the BAPE e-store and select retailers around the globe.

It’s generally accepted that A Bathing Ape’s Bape Sta is a direct takeoff on the Nike Air Force 1 Low. All it really takes is one look to see the AF1′s silhouette and sole, so when you see the Bape Sta Mil Low, you might do a double take. The classic two-piece sole remains but resting atop is anything but Uptown, this model switching to a nearly one-piece canvas upper with an eye-placket blocked off by the same piping that runs along your ankle. And it’s on the lateral side of that line where you’ll meet a black/red crest and realize Bape still has plenty of tricks up its sleeve. Camouflage print has always been a popular selection of apparel ever since army surplus stores first opened up. On the street, camo-print has the opposite effect as the amalgam of olive and brown tones tend to stick out like a sore thumb rather than blend in with the crowd. That explains why camo-print on sneakers have been so popular over the years, and judging by the positive response to All Day’s latest Bespoke camouflage creations, there will always be a demand. Complex.com just compiled a list of the Top 10 Camo-print sneakers ever created, and although you might already know what to expect in this short list, it’s still worth checking out. A Bathing Ape’s footwear collection is a series of offerings based on American classics, this latest model the brand’s first foray into the world of skateboarding sneakers. The BAPE Yanksta ‘Action Milo Print’ applies the brand’s cartoon mascot to the midsole of a model who owes its existence to Vans. This silhouette is quite similar to Off the Wall’s Era lowtop but the foxing band on the Yanksta is about as wide as an entire pack of Eras combined. These joints hit BAPE’s NYC flagship this past weekend and their surprisingly low-key colorways are now available at A Bathing Ape‘s web shop.
