The number of Nike KD V Elite colorways available at retail will balloon to three come this weekend. The third of those is this, an Oklahoma City colored sneaker that skips out on the orange sections in favor of a little bit of yellow. Of course OKC is looking just a little bit shaky at the moment as a result of Russell Westbrook’s absence, but hopefully that won’t cut Kevin Durant’s post-season time too short. See extra shots of the Nike KD V Elite “Playoffs Home” and watch for them in stores on May 18th at spots like Sneaker Bistro.

Mache was the first one to it, but it looks like Nike Basketball will have the last laugh with the Nike KD V “What the KD?”. The sneaker of course mixes in a handful of Nike KD V colorways, including the “Black History Month”, “All-Star”, and “Christmas” pairs. Will this mash-up pair get an actual release? Do you remember the Nike LeBron X “Gold Championship” pair for LeBron James? It was a sneaker that he started out the 2012-13 NBA season in, a brilliant gold infused with just a little bit of Heat flavor that would be worn to the team’s ring ceremony in the wake of their hard-fought NBA Championship. The sneaker finally showed up again, this time on the table of one Flipjays out at Sneaker Con Chicago, remind us all of just how many strong unreleased pairs the Nike LeBron X has tucked away. The WNBA pre-season already has the women of the league bringing out some slick sneakers. Skylar Diggins, the third overall pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft, showed up to her exhibition game with the Tulsa Shock wearing the Nike LeBron Soldier VII. What’s more, the sneakers appeared to be a PE pair, with the gold/black/yellow coinciding with the colors of Oklahoma’s WNBA team. First overall pick in the WNBA and brand new Nike athlete Brittney Griner is already being well taken care of by the Swoosh folks. Shown here is a player exclusive version of the Nike Kobe 8 made for Griner, one that of course lines up with the colors of the Phoenix Mercury, the squad that was lucky enough to pick her up in the recent draft. It’s playoffs time, which means that Kevin Durant has little use for the standard version of the Nike KD V anymore, having switched into Elite mode. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t new version of the sneaker still lurking around out there, as evidenced by this player exclusive pair for the highschool squad of the La Lumiere Lakers. Once again the gradient midsole look is teased out, one that seems less and less likely at retail with every passing PE. Engineered Mesh allows the Nike Kobe 8 System to render just about any kind of graphics you could imagine. Several have been snake-themed as is the case with every Black Mamba signature from Nike Basketball, but this latest revelation opts for a more universal appeal. Done in a Knicks/Thunder-leaning colorway, the Kobe 8 employs a new streak at approximately Swoosh height as part of a larger deployment of wavy gradient fades. The 2013 NBA Playoffs continue to be an interesting set of games, with series like those between the Heat/Bulls, Thunder/Grizzlies, and Spurs/Warriors shaping up to be not as lopsided as some may have predicted. Also keeping things interesting are the sneaker selections of the players still in it. LeBron James continues to hold things down with various PE versions of his Nike LeBron X, with teammate Chris Anderson showing support in the same sneaker. Similarly, Kevin Durant has rocked the Thunder-away version of the Nike KD V Elite while Kendrick Perkins went with a gradient flavored Nike KD V pair.
