The sneaker industry in the 20th Century has created legends out of some individuals who originally operated behind the scenes who are now enjoying a bit of a celebrity status. Guys like Michael Jordan, Tinker Hatfield, and Foot Locker Inc. CEO Ken Hicks have all made major moves in making the sneaker game a global affair, but there are some newer names to this exclusive group that deserve the props for their influence; designers like Jason Petrie and Robbie Fuller as well as brand directors like Jon Wexler of adidas and Todd Krinsky have all played major roles in driving the success of this culture, so check out some of the notable names of the bunch picked out below and see the list of the 25 Most Powerful People in Sneakers in its entirety on Complex.

The 2013 NBA Playoffs continued with several First Round match-ups continuing toward a Game 7. One of the more competitive bouts has been between the Pacers and Hawks, with players from both teams coming through with some heat (DJ Augustin in the Air Jordan IV “Thunder”, Gerald Green in the Reebok Shaq Attaq, and David West in a Nike Hyperposite “Gradient” PE). Kevin Durant went for the sweep in the Nike KD V Elite, but Rich Harden kept his Rockets alive with the Nike Hyperfuse 2012 Low “Christmas” PE. The last couple of times we saw Rihanna, she was on a little bit of a Reebok tear. It looks like she hasn’t completely left the Air Jordan retro world behind though. Rih was recently spotted out in NYC wearing the Air Jordan 1 “Joker”, one of the more under-the-radar styles from Jordan Brand’s extended 2013 All-Star group. In 2013 it’s been a little hard for an Air Jordan 1 to make significant noise without the “Nike Air” attached, so we forgive you if you’d already forgotten about this particular colorway. Four Games, Four Wins, Four Player Exclusive colorways of the Nike LeBron X Elite. Yesterday, LeBron James sported a fourth PE colorway of the Elite, taking on a red/black outfit to match the “Alternate” uniforms that the Heat have been wearing throughout the season. Paired with a translucent outsole and a Metallic Silver Swoosh on the heel, these are a lot like a “reverse” colorway of the Nike LeBron X “Pressure” colorway that released last year. The first round of the NBA Playoffs continued this past weekend, with the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs punching their tickets to Round 2 by way of a four-game sweep. For the fourth straight Playoff Game, LeBron James whipped out a different PE colorway of the Nike LeBron X Elite – this time in a Red/Black “Alternate” colorway. Some nice Air Jordans hit the court, like Kenyon Martin’s Air Jordan IX “Fontay Montana” and Joe Johnson’s Air Jordan XI Low. The adidas CrazyQuick was also spotted in several colorways, like Taj Gibson’s Red/Black colorway and the Black/White version worn by Iman Shumpert. Is a sweep in the works? LeBron James and the Miami Heat took their opening round series to Milwaukee with thoughts of a four-game sweep, and there’s no question that Miami didn’t let up a bit. LeBron took the court wearing the new PE colorway of the Nike LeBron X Elite, helping his team take a 3-0 lead in their series against the number-8 seed in the Milwaukee Bucks. A final recap of the week brings some new headlines, as some of the NBA’s biggest stars bring forth some great PEs over the last two nights. LeBron James followed up his Home PE with a Nike LeBron X Elite “Away” PE, while teammate Dwyane Wade wore the Li-Ning Way of Wade Encore in an “Away” version. Monta Ellis countered with the Air Jordan VII “Hare” in a losing effort. Russell Westbrook brought out the Air Jordan XX8 “White/Black” PE, and KD did his own thing with the “Playoffs Home” colorway of the KD V Elite. Finally, Joe Johnson did his best against the Bulls while wearing the Air Jordan XI Low, while Nate Robinson countered with the Air Jordan XIII “Playoffs”.
