Brooklyn emcees the Beastie Boys lost founding member Adam Yauch to cancer last week, but the group still has three dudes intact if you count the guy who was once known as ‘the fourth Beastie’. Street photographer Ricky Powell has seen the entire arc of hip-hop culture, from those ’80s golden era days to the current environment where something like Run-DMC’s deal with adidas is more like the rule than an exception. But Powell manages to maintain some of that limited edition mystique by teaming up with one of the smaller major brands, and his Ricky Powell x Pony capsule most definitely lives up to his ‘Do You…’ creedo. The black hightop Slam Dunks are fully vegetarian to match Ricky’s lifestyle, and a bunch of matching gear will be on tap whenever these hit retail. It’s something you’ll recognize as a fan of Sanrio’s signature character, and though its role as one of the most oft-licensed likenesses in the world of children’s entertainment makes this seem as obvious as sociology 101, Hello Kitty has still managed to impress with a huge range of sneaker collaborations. Brands including Asics, Reebok and Ubiq have all applied cartoonish embellishments to their designs in much the same way that this new Hello Kitty x Vans collection for summer. Models including the Vans Sk8-Hi, Slip-On and Authentic have all ben covered in a variety of prints, and you can see the entire set after the jump before they arrive at select retailers June 1st. via nitro:licious

Printed socks have become all the rage over the last year, so Nike decided to delve into that relatively untapped area of fashion by creating these custom-printed Nike Elite basketball socks. According to the owner, these Nike Elite ‘Dave White‘ socks were made as part of an in-house custom station at a Foot Locker location and were made in limited quantity. Other graphic options were the ‘Galaxy’ theme, the thermo-mapped graphic from the ‘Weatherman’, and a few camouflage-inspired designs. Are socks just as important as the sneakers? Check out the full shots of these socks below and see what the final price for these Dave White undergarments were by checking out the listing from pbody238972 on eBay.

Nike invited several members of select media to witness the unveiling of the partnership, highlighting the all-new Nike Elite 51 on-field NFL uniform, fortified by Pro Combat padding, Flywire panels, and designed perfectly to maximize mobility, maximize protection at “hit zone” areas, and maximize ventilation for optimal thermoregulation. Below, we have detailed images of the Nike Elite 51 Uniform as well as a look at all thirty-two teams uniforms, featuring some of Nike’s marquee NFL athletes like Seattle’s Marshawn Lynch, New York’s Darrelle Revis and Victor Cruz, and New England’s Wes Welker, but this serves as just the tip of the iceberg of what’s to come in terms of on-field gear, team apparel, and much, much more.

We’re not quite back to the days of ‘Tiger or the field?’, but with a win last week at Bay Hill, one Eldrick Woods is looking stronger heading into The Masters than he has in years. Tiger joins the field of those gifted Nike Air Force 1 Low PEs as we approach this year’s tournament, a matching Storm Fit jacket reminding us that it’s been seven years since Woods won in Augusta. His four Green Jackets are commemorated on the chest where the top ‘club’ replaces its driver head with flowers like those that appear on the AF1′s underlay and laser etching, details that you can examine more closely in additional images after the jump. via HKK

Last we heard from Japanese clothing label Comme des Garçons, they were cranking out Converse Jack Purcell lowtops as part of the PLAY brand. The last one was over a year ago, and now their latest looks to help establish another CDG sublabel in more sneakerheads’ closets. The Supreme x Comme des Garçons x Vans Sk8-Hi features a unique blocking pattern whereby the lower half of the side panel of an ohterwise black/grey design sees the same stripes added that completely cover a pair of Era lowtops and a few different 5-panel camp hats. There’s a bunch more Red Box-branded apparel done in CDG SHIRT fabrics, and the entire capsule will arrive at Dover Street Market in Ginza, Japan on Friday, March 16th along with the four Supreme retail locations and their e-store, with the Vans arriving later in June.
