Speaking of ‘game’, the rapper of the same name is one that’s been laced for years (even throwing in Air Max 95s and Barkleys into some of lyrics), and a quick look into his immediate Air Jordan stash reveals some great PEs like the Air Jordan II and XII in thew White/Red’ History of Flight’ promo samples as well as a slew of other notables, like the Bred XIII, Beijing Olympic VI, and many more. You know you’re a sneakerhead when you have a bed in your 500 sq. ft. sneaker closet. Last year, ESPN Mag featured NBA All-Star Joe Johnson and his massive sneaker collection, but recently Dime Mag went spelunking in this cave of leather and laces and found out that Joe Johnson sneakerhead ailment might be a lot more serious than we though. He already owns some of the best Air Jordan Retro PEs around, but a look into his sneaker domain – roughly the size of a spacious NYC studio apartment – has revealed a finger-print entry security system (only JJ can enter), a full living-room set-up complete with a bed, and over 1,000 pairs of sneakers. We’ve got a look at Joe Johnson’s collection below, but to find out more about Johnson’s sneaker history (like his favorite pair of Jordans and what he really thinks of Nike sneakers), head on over to Dime Mag.

In early 2011, Sneaker News stumbled upon a cluster of impressive eBay listings put together by an unknown individual known only by his eBay handle ‘Sneaks Kicks’. As the excitement began to mount around his incredible collection of listings, Sneaker News felt compelled to explore the true depths of this amazing collection of sneakers. We flew out to San Diego and was greeted by Jordan Geller, the owner and curator of what he called the ‘ShoeZeum’, and we were treated to a jaw-dropping tour of what is likely one of the greatest accumulations of leather and laces in the game’s history; beyond the mere accumulation of sneakers were categorized exhibits inspired by his own upbringing, with all of the exhibit props and trinkets fully stocked from purchases and trades from local swap-meets.
Not long after Sneaker News provided the first and only in-depth tour of the ShoeZeum, the entire sneaker world and even local and national news outlets picked up the story; Jordan Geller and ‘ShoeZeum’ had become household names and some of Nike’s highest brass, like Mark Parker and Tinker Hatfield, took the trip down to San Diego themselves – and even they were impressed at the pure Nike-driven passion. Geller even auctioned off personal Willy Wonka-style tours to the ShoeZeum (with all generated profits going straight to the Livestrong charity). Unfortunately, the ShoeZeum had to be temporarily closed and the massive sneaker collection piled into a storage space, but we’ve received some great news from Jordan himself: the ShoeZeum will be re-opening in the near future at a new location in Las Vegas. We’ll keep you updated on this progress of this grand re-opening and you can bet the farm the he’s grown his collection considerably since we were there almost a year and a half ago, so check out the amazing video of Jordan disassembling the ShoeZeum pair by pair, as well as a look at the apartment that housed the collection while it awaits the future Las Vegas location!

For sneakerheads, packing for a vacation or an extended tour requires an elite level of tetris-like luggage-stuffing ability. Aside from selecting what you plan on wearing, fitting ‘em inside a suitcase without squishing ‘em into flip-flops is always a concern, so take a page out of Theophilus London‘s book; he’s currently on tour and needs to keep his sneaker rotation fresh and diverse, and what he shows off here (Air Yeezy 2s, Chicago X, Grape V, Last Shot XIVs, and his Del Toro collab) proves that he’s serious about his sneaker game. Which of the notable sneakers do you own in your own collection?

Sneaker events are all about interacting with the community and taking pleasure in viewing some of the rarest kicks in the world, but in this recent event out in Taipei, things got a little bit competitive. Check out Sneaker Battle 2012 that was held in PHANTACi in Taipei, where some of the greatest sneaker collectors in the area came together to showcase the best from their respective collections in standalone exhibits. You’ll recognize some of the names in here, like PHANTACi, which displayed an unreleased version of their Black Piano Air Max 1, and Carter, who boasted his Air Jordan XI ‘Randy Moss’ PE. We’ve got a complete look at the sick displays below, so take a look and let us know who wins this Sneaker Battle! Photos: kenlu
