The Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star is a design that exited realm of actual basketball sneakers a long time ago. As a result, it should come as a surprise to nobody to see the silhouette picking up on some uniform cues from a separate sport. That sport would be baseball-the trio here has a sort of pinstriped look that definitely looks like it was borrowed from America’s favorite pastime. The sneakers come out of the also baseball-obsessed Japan, but you can keep your fingers crossed that the US will get them too. Check out the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star “Baseball Pinstripe” pack after the jump and keep in mind you can grab em now at Converse Japan.

Converse’ top tier of First String releases are looking to get all raggedy on us for Fall 2013, as the set of pairs on preview here seem to stress the tactile element more than most. Included are the Converse Jack Purcell Mid and the Converse Auckland Racer, the former looking all sewn together and the latter donning a terry cloth set up. From what we can tell they are inline releases, sort of serving up a separate take on the high end fabrics of the Missoni stuff. Continue reading for the Converse First String Fall 2013 preview and check back in for more looks into the future of their footwear soon.

As hilarious as it might seem to someone who deals with any serious volume of email, all correspondences used to be sealed with wax to verify identity and ensure security. Even though none of us use these in our daily lives, the visual of such a red resin is one of those things we all recognize, so Converse used it on their ‘makers mark’ on the latest round of Chucks. The ‘Sealing Wax’ Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Hi uses the red wax look in lieu of the traditional medial patches, a choice made all the more impactful and unique by three dipped colorways. Check out all three below, then keep an eye out because these should arrive soon.

Kung Fu Panda endorses frozen edamame these days, so it’s perhaps a missed opportunity that Jack Black’s highly profitable film series never reached out to do a sneaker collaboration for kids. Panda sneakers have historically been warmly received, whether in the case of the high contrast black/white split, or in the less frequent, more explicit case of this new Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Hi ‘Panda’. The giant B&W bear is all over these new Japanese-exclusive Chucks, so take a gander after the jump and let us know if these just made your must-import list.

We were under the impression that Jigga was more of a Mercer man when it came to hotels, but as far as we know they don’t have any sneaker collabs coming down the pipeline so it looks like he had to settle. Jay-Z was spotted here in the Ace Hotel x Converse Pro Leather creation, a white and grey pair that gets patterned with what appears to be a set of mini “A” logos from the lodge. Continue reading for a full gallery on Jay-Z, Beyonce by his side, cruising around in this Converse Pro Leather collab and tell us if they were on your radar before this sighting.

Italy’s Slam Jam is synonymous with neck-breaking collaborations, from their Nike Air Force 1 Lows to the more recent Asics Gel Lyte III. Here we see the store switch from blinding color to a more novel approach as the Slam Jam x Converse Jack Purcell ‘Summer Journey’ makes its mark with the nickname spelled out on the tongues. Add to this the red medial rivets that match the Purcell’s smile and we’re looking at one of the more unique renditions this classic style has seen. Slam Jam’s Jack Purcells just arrived at select First String retailers and you can see more below.

Converse just released two ‘Hawaiian Print’ Chuck Taylor Lows last month, but here we say ‘aloha’ to a whole bunch more floral canvas. Not only is the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Specialty higher than its Ox predecessor, both pairs are accompanied by matching premium backpacks, complete with the same embossed leather All Star patch that marks the shoes’ medial ankles. These will hit select Chinese retailers on Friday, June 14th, so stick with Sneaker News to see if we get a wider release.

Between all the collaborations and the recent Size? exclusives, Converse Auckland Racer general releases have been both overshadowed and relatively infrequent. That changes with two new colorways that could have just as easily released back in the 1970s. Conservative blocking and traditional colors take the vintage appeal of this old school runner to another level, but do they have what it takes to compete with all the other brand’s well aged suede and mesh? Decide for yourself with the aid of more images below, then grab yours at shops like Size?
