Flagged as the first Quickstrike release for Nike Skateboarding in 2012, the Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Shrimp’ made some interesting waves among our SB fans when we first previewed it just two weeks ago. Besides the clear representation of the ‘shrimp on the barbie’ with the embroidered on the heel and the special tongue label, there isn’t much to be extrapolated from this funky release except for the fact that they are arriving at select Nike SB retailers. DQM in New York City just got in a very limited stock of these, so check with your local Nike SB purveyor for availability and let us know what you think of this interesting release.

Nike Dunk Low – Medium Grey – Black – Team Red

While the hightop version has earned three different Quickstrikes for the 2012 NBA All-Star Game, the Nike Dunk Low has been relatively quiet since its appearance in last fall’s ‘Aztec Pack’. Among the few blips on the radar since then was a preview of the above pictured pair, one that’s now starting to arrive at Asian retailers and will be at select Nike Sportswear stockists in the States shortly. They come with a classically simple combination of Team Red, Medium Grey, black and white, which is just a few degrees away from being an un-Ultraman release. How do these rank against last year’s ‘Vintage Pack’ drop, or even the original co.jp-exclusive? Nike Dunk High Premium QS ‘All-Star 2012′ – Release Date

It was clearly a deliberate omission on the part of Nike Sportswear that sees their 30th Anniversary Air Force 1 silhouette on the outside looking into this year’s NBA All-Star pack, but one that also opened the door for the ‘other’ classic basketball cornerstone of the NSW catalog. The Nike Dunk High Premium Quickstrike ‘All-Star 2012 Pack’ is the best non-SB thing to happen to this silhouette in a good while, a thematically expressive trio that features an array of spacey imagery along with the kind of industrial lettering you’d see at a space center or nuclear reactor. They come with the same supernova sockliners as the Nike Basketball signature trio and you’ll find the All-Star Dunk High Quickstrikes along with the ‘GITD’ and ‘Orlando’ Air Flight Ones, plus the ‘Galaxy’ Foamposite Ones. Suffice to say, the Thursday, February 23rd release on NikeStore is going to drain plenty of wallets; what’s your shopping strategy for 2012 NBA All-Star sneakers?

Nike Dunk High ‘UNDRDG’ Customs by ROM

Sneaker customizer Martin Figueroa-Ramirez is better known around these parts as ROM thanks to a range of work on the Nike Dunk High and Low silhouettes that push the boundaries of creativitiy in today’s homage-heavy custom culture. But now that he’s an established force in the custom game, ROM has seemingly switched his focus to applying that same level of detail and attention to the hottest trend going: colorway swaps. Following up on the Air Jordan VI-inspired LeBron 8 ‘Oreo’ comes the Nike Dunk High ‘UNDRDG’, a military-themed look inspired by the UNDFTD x Air Jordan IV that manages to go even further than the legendary original by adding the AJIII’s signature Elephant print to the toebox and eyestay. Given the reputation of the UNDFTD AJ4s as one of the all-time grails, we won’t even ask if these are better than their muse, but how does ROM‘s latest stack up against one of the best loved non-bred Jays ever? Entourage x Nike SB Dunk Low – Latest Release Rumors

We just mentioned Todd Bratrud’s ‘Cheech and Chong’ Dunk High SB from last spring in reference to the upcoming ‘Bonsai’ Stefan Janoskis, but this model pictured above has it all over that pair when it comes to drama surrounding its release. The Entourage x Nike SB Dunk Low Premium ‘Lights Out’ has managed to outlive the hit HBO series, and with more delays and confusion than possibly any other single shoe in history, we wouldn’t blame you for being skeptical about new word of an eventual retail release. But that’s exactly what just happened when Northampton, Mass’ Unite reported that they’ll have a Quickstrike release in March or April of this year, just about a year after the ‘Entourage’ LeBron 8 V/2s dropped in 2011. Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Sunburst Mint’ Customs by Sharp020

Never content to just slap some paint on a sneaker and call it a custom, Sharp020 has proven his acumen again and again via a slick skill set of embroidery and sew-work. Take his latest creation, this minty fresh pair with a cool sunburst array of lines radiating out from the side swoosh. The inside gets quite the upgrade as well, featuring a soft quilted look that is generally reserved for top-tier Supreme collabos. Sharp020 really makes the pair his own, even going so far as to replace the ‘Nike’ branding throughout with his own stamp of approval (peep the custom tongue tag).
