It’s been a few weeks since most of the superhero-themed releases from Nike Basketball and Sportswear arrived, so that makes this latest delivery a nice surprise. The latest Nike Dunk High features a tessellated side panel just like the ‘Superhero Pack’ that dropped in early April. This one has the same galaxy-ish tongue tags, but goes for a more traditional basketball colorway in the classic ‘bred’ pairing. Let us know how these compare to the Wolf Grey/Bright Citrus and Photo Blue/Volt editions after you’ve seen more below, then grab a pair at Foot Locker.

Kids sizes and iD creations not withstanding, the Nike Dunk Low has been very quiet compared to its periods of peak activity. It’s been quite a while since we’ve examined a good old pair of ‘CLs’ here on Sneaker News, but it’s clear that the Dunk’s strengths still ring true. This latest colorway is similar to a release we profiled a few months back, in that both utilize black leather uppers and red contrasts. This new style stands out with its bold colorblocking, including a red run up the middle of tongue, laces and lining that makes a standout among the new styles you’ll find available at Finish Line.

French denim masters A.P.C. and Nike Sportswear go way back. These two labels have partnered for several collaborations over the years, including 2012′s Nike Dunk Highs and Air Max 1s. They follow a similar approach this year, applying minimalist colorways in premium materials to these same iconic 1980s silhouettes. For the Dunk High, black and Hay suedes ride gum rubber outsoles. AM1 is presented as Air Maxim 1 in traditional suede and mesh instead of the Flywire that distinguished earlier Maxims, but there’s no confusion about how dope the low-key black and white colorways turned out. Check out all four APC x NSW 2013 designs after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for release info because they’re out now at A.P.C.’s Hong Kong stores.

The limited number of collab Dunks we’ve seen in 2013 have aimed at keeping things pretty unified in terms of the hues used. Take the APC x Nike Dunk High set for example. Both the beige and the black keep it at just that, with one uniform shade of suede used across the upper of the respective pairs. Continue reading to see what we mean and give us your two cents in the comments regarding which of these APC x Nike Dunk High joints for Summer 2012 is more appealing to you. And, as always, keep your eyes locked on Sneaker News to find out when they’ll be at NSW accounts.

After a strong showing in late 2011, we haven’t seen much from Nike Sportswear’s VacTech series. Among the styles in that capsule was the Dunk High, a model whose VT build we see combined with another recent Dunk variation in this latest release. The Nike WMNS Dunk Sky High VT has a heel wedge hidden in the VacTech-sealed heel, so along with the timely caramel/mint colorway, you also get a few extra inches and all that goes along with that perched posture, except with the extra stability of the time-tested Dunk sole. Check them out after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for word on a US Dunk Sky High VT release.

A major headline that had the streetwear industry gasping in surprise was Original Fake announcing its final season of production. Since 2006, the infamous KAWS emblem has been a mainstay in high-end streetwear, going beyond apparel and into the amazing figurines in collaboration with Medicom Toy while partnering up with several brands in the process. In this latest custom by Dank Customs, a proper tribute is paid to the now closed Original Fake label, featuring the KAWS logo on the heel, the double-X baseball stitch detail on the toe, and a special teeth-inspired tongue label detailing the brand’s legendary run from 2006 to 2013. The Black/Volt is a nice throwback to KAWS’ collaboration with Nike in the past as well! We’ve got a full gallery of this amazing custom below, so take a look and let us know what you think.

Nike Sportswear pulls a common thread through summer 2013 Blazer Mid ’77 and vulc-soled Dunk High releases. Not only does the Nike Dunk High AC borrow the Blazer’s belly Swoosh and autoclaved outsole, but this Air Jordan 1-ish colorway also utilizes a multicolor zig-zag pattern on its tongue tag the likes of which you’ll see on some about-to-drop ’77s. The key here is making subtle twists to old favorites to keep them fresh, and it worked as you’ll see in more images below and at NSW retailers like Titolo.
