Solebox 10th Anniversary Collaboration Retrospective

Although they’re almost just as well-known for the frustratingly small numbers with which these products hit retail, Berlin’s Solebox is synonymous with high-profile sneaker collaborations. Over the course of a decade, this German boutique that’s recently become known for its light-up retro kicks has authored roughly one new colorway per quarter, for a massive total that approaches forty when you consider variations like the (un-)branded GITG Asics Gel Lyte III. Solebox has a way with the GLIII and its classic running peers, the New Balance 1500 a clear favorite in much the same way that Solebox has struck up a long-term relationship with Saucony. Nike Elite VNTG ‘BRS Collection’ – Size? Exclusives

Nike Sportswear just debuted the Elite No-Sew in two colorways: one echoing today’s infatuation with vibrantly accented grey palettes and another taken straight from the 1976 original. The Nike Elite VNTG goes even further with these new ‘BRS Collection’ drops that celebrate the Blue Ribbon Sports formally changing its name to Nike two years after its their debut. 24 Kilates x Asics Gel Saga ‘Tio Pepe Pack’

That little detail about 24 Kilates’ latest sneaker collaboration conspicuously not including an alcoholic component? Go ahead and forget about that. Just as much as we’ve come to expect excellent execution from their designs, we can reasonably predict a liquid pack-in, and now comes word that the Feria de Abril-inspired 24 Kilates x Asics Gel Saga will indeed offer a limited special edition package complete with a bottle of the world’s best-selling Sherry brand. 60 sets will include a bottle of Tio Pepe complete with the company’s signature anthropomorphism, hat and jacket details applied to the vessel as well as the tiny hangtags crafted in that same shape. Nike Blazer High – Stussy-Inspired Size? Exclusives

Stussy has enjoyed a spike in Sneaker News mentions this week thanks to a collaboration with Converse Japan and a preview from Nike Sportswear that recalls memories of a milestone teamup from a decade ago. When the Stussy x Nike Blazer Mid dropped in 2002, the very concept of collaborative marketing was still in its infancy and the Blazer silo had yet to be fully restored to its rightful place in the Swoosh canon. Just ten years later, we’ve seen the sneakerhead scene evolve in ways we could have never expected, and meanwhile, the trusty ol’ Blazer just ports these classic Stussy-penned colorways over to another (almost identical) silhouette. This grey/green tribute is limited to 500 pairs and they’re moving fast as Size? exclusives.

Nike Toki Premium – Size? Exclusives

British sneaker suppliers Size? got an exclusive full grain leather Nike Toki last October, a model that moved so quickly the next set had to be four times as large. The first two of those new designs will drop this Friday, April 20th, Ice Blue and Mint Green designs with tonal piping, eyelets and laces plus contrasting suede tongue tags and white vulc soles. There are only 500 pairs of each color, so even with olive and navy pairs still to be released, you’ll need to act fast to get your pair from Size? on Friday. Le Coq Sportif Joakim Noah 3.0 ‘Le Rêve Olympique’

Le Coq Sportif has but one NBA athlete, but they couldn’t have picked a better player to represent the brand than Chicago Bulls energizer rabbit Joakim Noah. Noah is a consistent 10 and 10 guy, but what he lacks in statistical awe he makes up with the kind of unmeasurables that have the Bulls maintaining the league’s best record even as their reigning MVP sits for a third of the season. Jo also plays a critical role as France’s center, earning his tennis pro father’s home nation a berth into the 2012 Olympics by helping them into the EuroBasket 2011 finals. Noah and France might not make it as far in London, but he’ll still have made his mark with this new Le Coq Sportif Joakim Noah 3.0 ‘Le Rêve Olympique’, a blue-to-white gradient take on the Tricolore whose rooster logo provides the red third, while heel pods on the outsole reflect the Olympic flag colors. While Bart Simpson had us believing that the toilets in Australia always flushed opposite to our own here in the US, it’s clear that Aussie sneakerheads share the same passion for kicks as American collectors. Sneaker Freaker’s home country has a smaller population which means relatively fewer retailers across the Outback, yet one of them managed to get the latest collaborative drop from Barcelona’s standout boutique a few weeks earlier than the expected release date. The 24 Kilates x Asics Gel Saga was slated for a late April drop but Laced in Brisbane already sold out their stock before word could spread past Sydney.
