So a ton of great sneakers released in 2013 thus far – ready to buy, sell, trade, and show off? Sneaker Con is embarking on the lengthy Summer 2013 Tour, with four cities already confirmed for Sneaker Con events. It starts this weekend in Chicago, and is followed by two dates in June in Atlanta and Miami, and finishes off in mid-July in the city that Sneaker Con was born in – New York City. If you’re located in one of these cities, you should definitely take a look at all the Sneaker Con Summer 2013 info here.

Earlier today Sneaker News gave you a look at some upcoming colorways of the Supra Chimera designed by Lil Wayne as part of the budding Spectre by Supra line. The future of this interesting new line has a lot more to celebrate beyond the Chimera because Supra expects this new endeavor to flourish as it takes on the street/skate scene with full force. Supra held a special unveiling party in Miami on Friday night, with a load of notable names like Bun B, Stevie J, Don Cannon, Mack Maine, skaters Chaz Ortiz, Stevie Williams and Chad Muska, French rappers Booba and Gato and, of course, Lil Wayne and the new Chimera sneaker. Along with a special display for the Chimera and other upcoming shoes, indoor vert ramps were installed for the skaters to put the shoe into action, tattoo artist BJ Betts provided complimentary tattoos, and of course, there were loads and loads of women (it’s Miami, would you expect any less?). Anyone who has shopped or even browsed online knows that PayPal is one of the primary methods of payment utilized by countless merchants around the globe; it’s been a staple of eBay commerce for years, and it’s even a viable checkout option on Nikestore. PayPal has always acted as a wallet “cloud” of sorts, with a debit or credit account being connected with a personal PayPal account to make paying for goods as easy as possible. But what was once an online only option has switched to actual stores, as Foot Locker and PayPal team up to launch PayPal’s Offline Payment shopping solution in its 1,200 stores nationwide. PayPal account holders can access their personal accounts by entering the phone number connected with the account while “checking in” to Foot Locker to access VIP memberships (no need to look for ‘em in your wallet).
So how’s this different from, say, cash or a credit card? Aside from the convenience of “checking in” and not having to search for your Foot Locker VIP card, you don’t need to be carrying around actual credit cards or wads of cash to pick up your favorite sneakers – a secure feature on those raucous sneaker releases. In addition, parents can either give their PayPal account info to their children to safely make purchases in-store, or create a joint account to give the young customer a little more control. Sneaker News was given an opportunity to experience the PayPal Offline Payment in-store, and we must say – it’s pretty darn easy. PayPal won’t stop at Foot Locker either, as it aims to become a payment option at over two millions stores by the end of 2013. Your thoughts on this development? Solemart Berlin 2013 wrapped up over this past weekend, with over 3,000 visitors coming through to join in on one of the biggest sneaker events on the globe. In addition to all the sneaker heat on feet and on display, plenty of footwear brand support came through from Nike, adidas, Puma, Reebok, and Supra. On top of all the sneaker extravaganza, Solemart Berlin teamed up with Smart Center Berlin to announce the Smart Brabus car specially made just for the event. Nike is big on natural motion. It’s an idea that they’ve invested a lot of time, money, and footwear into over the years, with technologies like Nike Free and Nike Flyknit hinging on the ability to let the foot act as it would sans-sneaker. Exploring this notion is the Art & Science of Natural Motion exhibit at Nike Stadium Milano, a set up that brings in digital artists Universal Everything, Daniel Widrig, and Quayola+Sinigaglia to interpret the principles of flex and fit.
