adidas nike soccer world cup Can Nike Beat adidas at Soccer? Bloomberg Investigates

American consumers are used to Nike being #1, with the Oregon brand holding a far lead on the runner-up adidas. But on a global scale, the two athletic outfitters are in a close battle on a the world’s largest and perhaps most significant sports platform – soccer. In fact, on the global sales front, adidas has Nike beat by a considerable margin, but it’s a margin that’s has steadily been closed thanks to some major advancements in the Swoosh, and considering the leader had nearly four decades a head start, Nike’s push forward is that much more impressive.. The 2014 World Cup is undeniably a pivotal sporting event for both brands (you’ll see plenty of logos from both flying around your TV screens), and it’s during these soccer extravaganzas that business analysts will take an emphatic look at this raging rivalry. Bloomberg investigates this round of Nike vs. adidas, so check out the Bloomberg Television video below and let us know what your thoughts are on this rivalry.

New Balance Suing Karl Lagerfeld for Sneaker Ripoff

new balance sues karl lagerfeld New Balance Suing Karl Lagerfeld for Sneaker Ripoff

New Balance is the latest sneaker company to bite back against luxury brands ripping off its designs. According to TMZ, the brand is suing German fashion lord Karl Lagerfeld over his liberal usage of the NB aesthetic, specifically the side letter hit, on a $360 pair of Lagerfeld trainers. The turn of events suggests that sneaker companies aren’t exactly appreciative of the sort of high fashion rip approach that’s been rampant lately in the luxury sneaker world (Common Projects, Givenchy, and CĂ©line are all guilty of this as well). You have to also wonder whether or not New Balance will be chasing down the likes of Hender Scheme, who have a sneaker that’s basically just a $900 NB 1300 without the logo. See some of the evidence after the click and let us know if you think sneaker companies should be a little bit more lenient as far as luxury borrowings of their designs.
