One of the best things about wool is that when you get up close and personal with the material, it has tiny variations that lend an organic depth of color you can’t match with most other fabrics. That heathered appearance has been used to its fullest potential on the Nike Footscape Woven Chukka Motion‘s ‘Wool Pack’, a trio of warm-for-winter looks whose woven ribbons expand upon the fuzzy upper’s base shade. This one goes for an entirely greyscale look and gets an ’10A’ tongue tag for the serious collectors out there, so check them out in detail below and stick with Sneaker News for release info and a closer look at the third member of this pack.

Ostentatious designs are the rule and not the exception when it comes to the Nike Footscape series, so while we have come to expect wildness from this line that represents the essence of Nike Sportswear, this one fits right in with what we might have predicted. The Nike Footscape Woven Chukka Motion continues its busiest year yet with another animal print, this time a monochromatic black leopard that reminds us the simplest of all colorways has been on top since last Christmas. These eschew the Woven Chukka Motion’s idiosyncratic alphanumeric labels in favor of ‘TYO’ tongue tags; might we see other world cities follow suit? Stick with Sneaker News to find out, and check out some more photos in the meantime.

The ‘Woven’ silo was given a nice Rainbow effect with the early 2000 HTM releases of the Air Woven, and since then, anything with that multi-colored pixelated effect has been a must-have item for the Footscape cult following. Starting with the Lunar Woven Chukka ‘Rainbow’ TZ releases of 2010 up to the recent Euro Cup Woven drops, the Woven/Footscape coterie has been juggling with an abundance of great footwear releases over the last two years – and the Sail and Black colorways of the Footscape Woven Chukka Motion only adds to that overabundance of greatness. If you’ve been looking around for these for a bit, mark your calendars for August 31st as both will hit Nikestore and other select spots like Japanese retailer mita, so peep the new images below and get ‘em in advance on eBay.

Nike Sportswear’s Footscape series has diverged into two distinct paths over the past few years, both of which feature flexible, barefoot-mimicking outsoles for superior comfort. On the Chukka side of things, the Motion sole provides a bit of extra support and its relatively bulky build balances the higher vamp nicely. For the heir to the Air Footscape throne, the Nike Footscape Free relies on a more ‘naked’ approach, though ostensibly, this greyscale camouflage print was intended to conceal something. That conceptual interplay makes for the kind of satisfying look NSW lifestyle fans have come to know and love, so act fast before this Quickstrike is gone from retailers like Caliroots.

There hasn’t been much in the evolution of the Footscape from the mid-90′s to now. The foot-form upper shape stays true to the original, leaving only the choice of material and outsole construction as the focal points of change, but that’s only a testament at how supremely designed the Footscape is – there is no vestigial feature on the shoe. The Footscape – originally a running shoe with an off-centered lacing system to reduce stress at key points on the foot – is now a NSW darling, arriving in ‘Woven Chukka Motion’ form in three sublime colorways built up by wool materials. As noted in previous FWCM releases, a distinct number/letter designation marks the tongue pull-tab – 2DE for the Brown, OGJ for the Dark Grey, and 10A for the Black – so prepare to OMG at the images below and we’ll keep you updated on potential U.S. release info. The Footscape Woven was the perfect sneaker for the overlapping population of Footscape lovers and Woven fanatics (a rather large overlap), only most of the releases were super-limited collaborations by HTM and other notable labels while being exclusive to overseas accounts. The Footscape Woven has been a far less difficult pick-up over the last two years as they’ve been available at more U.S. accounts, and the upcoming duet of Beige and Black anchored by the sick rainbow-woven stripe should be the must-have of the Footscape Woven silo in 2012. We’ve got a nice detailed viewing of the Beige colorway below, so check ‘em out and we’ll keep you updated on when/if these arrive Stateside. Photos: hupu
