Here comes a new Nike Huarache Basketball 2012 that despite featuring the same dual-colored mesh toe as many of this year’s other Free-soled drops, ends up feeling like a left field drop. But regular Sneaker News readers will remember this as one of the first colorways from this model we previewed back in July 2011, its Loyal and Storm Blues plus Vivid Orange most certainly the kind of thing that will make a lasting impression on New York sports fans. Check them out in greater detail below, then grab yours from Nike Sportswear dealers like Extra Butter or scoop up one of the pairs floating around now on eBay.

Dubai in and of itself is sort of a hybrid city, caught between embracing a massive wave of development and maintaining its cultural heritage as a capital of the Arab world. Touching on that status is this crazy custom design from Nash dubbed the ‘Bedouin’ and produced for the recent Sole DXB sneaker show, which blends the luxurious upper of the Visvim FBT with the retro tech of the New Balance 1500 sole kit on bottom. The result is, as to be expected, pretty unlike any sort of customization we’ve ever seen before, with the cross-branding choices successfully pairing up two totally different footwear fields. Nike Trainers have come a long way from the mid-cut forefoot-strapped Air Trainer 1 to the modern-day Free or Air Max-soled renditions we see today. Combining state-of-the-art design and function with one of the most historic Air Trainers of all-time is this sick one-of-one sample of the Nike Air Max TR1 360 designed after Bo Jackson’s ‘Auburn’ colorway of the Nike Air Trainer SC; it clearly takes on some of the most notable details of the Air Trainer SC, like the perforated leather upper and the outrigger fortified by the tensile cables embedded into the material (a predecessor to Flywire, if you will). You won’t ever see these release, but this one-of-one sample is here for your viewing so check out the gallery below and see what the asking price is from identitiesrevealed on eBay.

Each of the Jordan Son of Mars colorways we’ve seen to this point have quickly come along with nicknames (however precise), and though the pair pictured above remains the sole exception to that rule, there are a couple of Jordan Brand story lines that could weave their threads into this palette. The mix of greys with soft blue and gold accents is the latest chapter in a tale begun when the ‘Cool Grey’ Air Jordan XI dropped in 2010. This immensely wearable palette is also easily connected to MJ’s days as a Washington Wizard or Carmelo Anthony’s first seven and a half years in Denver, or you could get really creative and see this as a visual bridge between Mike’s last season at UNC and his first Olympic gold medal at the 1984 LA Games. Any way you slice it, this is a versatile design that, paired with the Son of Mars’ early momentum, is shaping up to be one of the summer’s sleeper hits. We expect them at select JB retailers on August 11th and you can see some more angles after the jump below. via AR

When it comes to Anfernee ’Penny’ Hardaway’s NBA career, the most asked question by far would be a hypothetical with a jist like, “What if injuries hadn’t robbed Penny of more years on top of the league?” Hardaway’s was a tough path and it was nearly stolen away even earlier, when a little over two decades ago, he was struck in the foot by stray gunfire connected to an armed robbery. The same town dangerous enough to put his life in jeopardy was also where Penny played his way into the national spotlight, and this latest colorway of what is arguably Nike Sportswear’s finest hybrid design to date, celebrating his deep connections to western Tennessee’s urban center. The Nike Zoom Rookie LWP ’Memphis Blues’ is sweeter than an order of BBQ Spaghetti from Cozy Corner, an all-blue dish whose trendy palette happens to coincide perfectly with the ’1c’ logo Penny wore during his best years in Orlando. Check out a set of new images after the jump, and grab a pair today from nikeyager on eBay.

Not that there’s anything wrong with the Lunar look on this Tinker Hatfield classic, but we can imagine that if we weren’t also being treated to the OG version of the Nike Air Safari this year, then the Nike Lunar Safari+ shown here might not be treated with such open arms. Fortunately, the Beaverton team is double dipping, with the newer end of the spectrum ending up with quite an eye-popping combo this time around thanks to the heavy volt treatment. Click through to check out the full shots of the sneakers and let us know in the comments if you’ve got plans to pick up the Nike Lunar Safari+, the Nike Air Safari, or both in 2012. Photos: Burner

Nike Free continues to dominate the ‘comfy outsole’ sector with its new designs and hybridized classics, like the Huaraches and the Kukini Free. The verdict on the ‘Free’ hybrids is still out, but in the case of comfort, the Kukini Free is guilty of all charges because they are built for maximum comfort with the Free outsole, lace-less construction, and lock-down cage fit. This new Vivid Orange release offers up a wild rendition of the equally eccentric design, and with Europe’s SneakersNStuff stocking these now, you should find ‘em at your local NSW retailer soon if they haven’t popped up yet.

This year’s flagship is a performance-oriented world-beater, the Air Max 1 is celebrating its 25th anniversary and plenty of more obscure classics have come out of the Nike Sportswear vault in recent months, but can any of those lines match the energy behind the Air Max 95 family right now? Not only are new colorways consistently hitting retailers, but we saw got both No-Sew and Hyperfuse-constructed pairs debut a short while back. The latter of those, Nike Air Max+ (95) 360 is such a perfect progression from the original that even hardened purists can find merit in the new gradients its synthetic upper makes possible. This white and grey edition is a prime example of which you can see more images below, then be sure to check back with Sneaker News for updates as we approach the June 7th drop date.
