Nike Zoom Sonic Flight “University Red”

Back in the 1990s there was a tendency for sneakers to pick up on the black/red colorway even if the associated athletes had nothing to do with that palette, as the dominance of Michael Jordan and the Bulls lifted that combo to a certain level of ubiquity. Could we be going through another era of that sort thanks to the Heat’s current reign? That’s not really what’s going on with this Nike Zoom Sonic Flight to be fair, as Gary Payton did do some time with that team, which we can only assume was the inspiration for this pair. Continue reading for some more photos of them and watch for this pair to hit at Renarts on Friday.

Air Jordan 1 Retro ’86 – Inspired by the Air Jordan 2

The Air Jordan 2 is the latest of silhouettes to get mashed up with the Air Jordan 1 via the hybridized retro series marked off by the year of the mixed-in shoe. Hence, the Air Jordan 1 Retro ’96. The sneakers, apparently arriving in April, feature the Jordan Wings logo on the tongue, that billows shape on the back end, and in this case a Safari texture that perhaps suggests that the Jordan 2 “Night Shade” will be releasing after all. How does this pair match up against others like the Air Jordan 1 Retro ’89 or the Air Jordan 1 Retro ’95? Tell us down in the comments after you see the rest of the photos for this upcoming Air Jordan release.

Nike Zoom Sonic Flight – Black – Red

It looks like the new Nike Zoom Sonic Flight will follow in the footsteps of the Nike Zoom Flight The Glove as far as colorways are concerned. Meaning that it will also incorporate the colors of various teams that the associated player Gary Payton spent time with during his NBA tenure. The black and red pair on display fills in the “Heat” role with a bit more balance between the two dominant colors than the parallel Glove style. Click through to see extra views of the shoe and then hit us up in the comments if you’re feeling them.

Unfortunately there is still not yet a date of arrival for the Nike Zoom Sonic Flight, that shoe that pairs together a couple of different Gary Payton sneakers and comes with a brand new hybrid design as the result. On the bright side though we do have another colorway to ogle: this baby blue and silver combination. Tucked onto the tongue of the shoe is a detail that we’d not seen previously-the signature of Mr. Payton. Stay with us after the break for a more complete view of the shoes and tell us in the comments if this is a model that you’re looking forward to.

Jordan Brand is giving Dark Powder Blue some serious shine this spring. It started with the new Air Jordan IIIs from last month, will wrap up at the end of February with the long-awaited ‘Powder Blue’ Jordan X Retro, and in between, a model with some of the III’s Elephant print and lines around the eyestay that show how the XI was a natural progression from the X. The ‘Powder Blue’ Jordan 6 Rings mixes Wolf and Cool Greys for a base that adds soft blue to its extremely wearable mix. They’ll be available bright and early tomorrow morning at select Jordan Brand retailers, but you can go ahead and grab a pair right now on eBay.

Jordan Prime 5 – Reflective Silver – Infrared 23

It was a little strange to see the Jordan Prime 5 return in January with a colorway patterned after November’s ‘Oreo’ Vs.  It looks to be more than just a followup on that single colorway, as we have a new pair that has just hit retail in a ‘Raging Bull’-ish reflective black colorway with red accents and an icey sole.  These take a different approach than the Jordan 5-inspired 5Lab3s around the corner but also suggest a silver design in this vein isn’t out of the question.  And the more important part, of course, is that these are available as we speak at select Jordan Brand retailers like Major.

While you’ve not seen to much of the Jordan Spiz’ike at retail lately, the model has quietly been available on NIKEiD this whole time. It appears that a couple of new material options were recently tossed towards the hybrid model-there’s a color shifting “Chroma” and an elephant print approach that works with either metallic silver or metallic gold. We’ve whipped up a couple of examples for you, but of course those will only capture a tiny sliver of what’s available. So check those out with us after the break and then try your hand at the NIKEiD design studio if you’re not satisfied.
