Starting with June’s Elephant-accented Air Jordan 1 Mids, True Blue has made a big impact for the Jumpman this summer. The AJ1 Low and AJ V2 both tried on the OG Jordan III signature look, Carmelo’s B’Mo stretched it across I-95 and now the shoe named for a guy who watches Anthony’s games at Madison Square Garden on the Jordan Son of Mars Low. These drop this Saturday, July 27th, perhaps the closest of all the above mentioned to that iconic original Jordan 3. Check out some new photos below, then get ready when they arrive this weekend at Jordan Brand retailers like Sneaker Bistro.

Nike SB Stefan Janoski Free Max

July 8th, 2013 by | 4 comments

nike sb stefan janoski free max 1 Nike SB Stefan Janoski Free Max

Stefan Janoski’s Zoom-cushioned Nike SB pro model is so successful, it has enjoyed a longer first run than any other signature shoe in history unless you want to count the Chuck Taylor.  It’s basically unheard of these days, when the elite superstars have more than one sneaker to their name every single year.  This two-headed low and midtop monster will soon stretch well outside its established comfort zone with an as yet unnamed hybrid whose grooved and Air bubbled sole explains why it’s natural to see it as the Nike SB Stefan Janoski Free Max.  Stick with Sneaker News for details including the official model name and the similar Eric Koston model we saw alongside these a short while back.

Breaking Down the Jordan Son of Mars Low “White/Cement”

jordan son of low white cement details 6 Breaking Down the Jordan Son of Mars Low White/Cement

The Jordan Son of Mars Low is a sneaker tied up in the history of the Michael Jordan/Spike Lee relationship. You’ll recall that the first version, the Jordan Son of Mars, came bearing elements from all of the Air Jordan releases in which Spike helped to promote, with the sum total of its influences being the Air Jordan III, Air Jordan IV, Air Jordan V, Air Jordan VI, and the Air Jordan XX. This year’s Jordan Son of Mars Low trims the fat just a little bit though, casting off the Air Jordan XX details to focus instead on that consecutive run from the Air Jordan III to the VI while maintaining a lower-than-usual cut on a Jordan sneaker. The resulting design has a lot of catching up to do if it wants to be regarded in the same breath the Jordan Spiz’ike, but there is a new colorway dropping this Saturday at Foot Locker that is turning some heads.

Jordan Son of Mars Low “White/Cement” – Arriving at Retailers

It came out of the gate with some colorful fare and has perhaps its boldest yet in the ‘DTRT’ edition to close out June, but one week before that one arrives a more traditional Air Jordan colorway on the Jordan Son of Mars Low. This one hearkens back to the early Tinker Hatfield days, with both Elephant print from the AJIII and midsole speckling from the IVs. The Spiz’ike hit early with a similar makeup back in 2007 but the original midtop Son of Mars skipped this classic color scheme. Is the ’White Cement’ Son of Mars Low the ultimate expression of this crisp late ’80s look? Let us know what you think of this style set to drop this Saturday at spots like Oneness, and see what’s available now on eBay.

Air Jordan III Force Fusion “Black/Cement” – Unreleased Sample

air jordan iii black cement force fusion sample Air Jordan III Force Fusion Black/Cement Unreleased Sample

Do you remember the Air Jordan Force Fusion series? The hybridized style sort of came at the tail end of of a pretty big Nike Air Force 1 wave, its late arrival perhaps hurting the line’s overall perception. Shown here is an unreleased Air Jordan III Force Fusion from back then, a pre-poduction sample that sports a few tweaks that separate it from the final, retail version. Most notable among them is the solid outsole rather than that visibly bubbled MX midsole. Do you think that the more classic look would have helped these out? Give us your thoughts on whether or not you think the Air Jordan Force Fusion line could make a comeback and then bid on this unreleased Air Jordan III pair from noname2828 on eBay.

Nike Koston 2 Max

nike koston 2 air max Nike Koston 2 Max

Eric Koston’s series of Nike SB sneakers isn’t quite done doing the mashup thing with Nike’s Air Max heritage. Shown here is a revamped version of the relatively new Nike Eric Koston 2 that features a Nike Air Max 1 style bag across the bottom. That’s not all that’s going on though, there’s also some Nike Free looking nubs along the front end and another AM1 looking detail wrapping the toebox shape. No word yet on a retail release, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see them in stores given the precedent set by the Nike Koston Heritage. Check out the entirety of the teaser below and stay tuned for more shots soon.
