If Michael Jordan were in the process of winning his six NBA championships today, he’d be wearing more expressive colorways than we’d tend to associate with the Air Jordan Legacy.  Jordan was known to wear a new pair of shoes, and if we extrapolated that trend to the variety LeBron James has shown off this season, the possibilities are mind-boggling.  We get a hint of what might have been with Electric Green detailing on this otherwise Bulls-ish Air Jordan 1 Retro ’93, though one would imagine that an MJ Playoff colorway would switch the black and white.  And in fact, these officially release on Saturday alongside the ‘Playoffs’ Jordan VIII-inspired edition, so you’ll have your choice of traditional or a fresh twist, the latter of which is depicted further below and available this weekend at Nohble.

A new colorway has just popped up for the sneaker, one that pulls from the forthcoming “Green Glow” version of the Air Jordan IV. The previous preview showed off combos old and new on the shoe, so it’s not entirely surprising that that this cool green and black set up will also be adapted. After a flurry of activity to start the year, the Jordan Spiz’ike last issued a new colorway back in March.  The handful that hit during the first quarter have given way to NIKEiD options at the forefront, with Jordan Brand designers likely preparing forthcoming colorways well ahead of their release dates.  One prototype design that never made it past the sample stage is this University Gold Spizike crafted last year, a ‘Candy Pack’-ish colorup that predated the suede iD options by several months (inner tags indicated Holiday 2012 intended release).  You can get a similar colorway going with the newest 3M options online at NIKEiD right now, or consider bidding on this rare unreleased sample available now from jordunk23 on eBay.

Do the sorts of hybrid upgrades applied to the Nike Air Max Uptempo Fuse 360 put the sneaker back into the discussion as a viable choice for hooping? The OGs are of course a bit dated at this point, but perhaps the introduction of a 360 Air unit on the bottom and some Fuse treatment up top can put them close the to perimeter of that performance zone. Then again, they make a fine sneaker off the courts as well thanks to the black and pink combo that’s been a surefire hit over the past couple of years. Nike Eric Koston 2 IT

If you went back to the days of Caddyshack, there wasn’t a tremendous overlap between golf and skateboarding.  We’ve come a long way in both sports and culturally in general, which means considerably more give and take between these previously disparate sporting worlds.  Eric Koston is a fine example, an extremely successful skater who, similar to the ultimate Nike signature athlete in Michael Jordan, finds that his competitive drive translates perfectly to the links.  The Nike Koston 2 IT reminds us how much both of these activities depend on traction, the IT swapping out a carefully articulated herringbone starburst for a grass-grabbing nubby bottom.  The black leather colorway with subtle red accents is a winner anywhere you’d like to wear it, and you’ll find the Nike Golf co-signed Koston 2 IT available at select SB shops like Premier.

Fresh off its first releases this month, the Jordan Son of Mars Low is making a big impact with a variety of colorways previewed.  This one is a sample whose retail status is unknown as of this writing, but one that we could fairly confidently predict would make a big splash (especially for the brand new main color) should it hit during the summer months.  A spin on the ‘South Beach’ family of palettes that’s been extremely popular for the past couple years, this Dark Sea Son of Mars Low adds Gym Red touches along with black and white on the sole, plus a fruit loop-ish print on the sockliner.  Check out how the deep turquoise color gives an aquatic edge to the Elephant print and stick with Sneaker News to see if this colorway is coming your way.
