Nike Hyperdunk Low – Spring 2010 Preview

A few months have passed and many have still not recovered from the terrible news that the McFly Hypermax was not to release stateside, and that the McFly Hyperdunk Lows weren’t gonna drop at all! Sad news, we know. But look at the bright side – fresh shoes will always come our way. And on another lighter note, Nike still pursued a future for other Hyperdunk Lows. We saw these as a preview earlier this summer, but now we have some better shots for the Spring 2010 collection. Obviously missing the more favored McFly versions, we see an all black profile instead. Good looks to Shoeniverse for the images.

Nike Hyperize Takehiko Inoue – Slam Dunk Manga Edition

Vans Vault has celebrated some of the great American pop artists of the last century this year. There’s no questioning, say, Robert Crumb’s cult status, which is also true of Japanese comics and cartoons in America. Anime is pretty widespread thanks to Cartoon Network, but there are probably plenty of sneakerheads who aren’t yet aware of ‘manga’ (Japanese comics), much less its prominent figures.

Much as Vans is shedding light on their chosen artists, exposing them to the younger set, this Nike Hyperize designed by Slam Dunk creator Takehiko Inoue will draw some into the artform. The kicks themselves actually look more like those ‘china’ plates your grandma won’t let you eat off of, and since these are an Asian-exclusive for the time being, they’re just as hands-off. via Trendy

Nike Hyperdunk Low – White – Black – Red – New Images

Just a few days ago, we gave a look at these upcoming Hyperdunk Lows, and now we have another look at these samples thanks to MarqueeSole. As a low top silo, the Hyperdunk takes on a completely different feel, as if it were a completely different Nike style. It’s interesting to see such a shoe that introduced such ingenious new technology possibly jeopardize ankle support in a real basketball scenario, but then again, we don’t really see Kobe’s performance being compromised with his low cut sigs. Nonetheless, these add a new flare to the lows we previewed way back because of its beloved Chi-town colors. Keep posted for further info.

Though the championship inspiration is clear, we all wondered why Nike would push out so many Zoom Kobe IV colourways when we know the ZK5 is right around the corner. It’s not too often that we see non-retro releases of an earlier sneaker than is the more recent, but such is the case with the Nike Hyperdunk Low. You could say it’s a sequel of sorts, but given that the Hyperize is already firmly set as the number one choice for this basketball season, it’s slightly strange to see its predecessor suddenly pop up in a lowtop. Then again, we’re not complaining either, cos this shoe looks pretty much perfect in the Chicago-style colourway. House of Hoops Houston, Texas Grand Opening

Saturday, October 10th, 2009. The day that the House of Hoops opens at Northline Mall in Houston, TX could very well be the last, considering the ridiculous fire hazard that’s sitting in there. They really brought the heat for this opening, and while the Cherry Hill, NJ store got some love of its own with a duo of Philly Hyperizes for the occassion, when you get a look at the list of stuff they have in store, you might think somebody in Foot Locker corporate was from ‘Space City’.

The Astros and Rockets were both named for Johnson Space Center and each gets its own Hyperize, but that’s just the start. Jordan Brand offers its own duo with the bred Air Jordan Force XIII (AJF 13) and a brand new Air Jordan 1 High Strap in white with navy and red accents. Rounding out this apparently incomplete list is a huge run of reissues from earlier HoH-exclusives including, but not limited to (deep breath): Hypermax Tennis Ball Pack, Reggie Miller Air Total Max Uptempo PE, Air Penny II Retro in black and copper, Zoom Kobe IVs for Lower Merion and Rice, Zoom LeBron Soldier IIIs for Christ the King and SVSM, the Phi Slamma Jamma Big Nike High and the Hyperize Decades Pack (whew!). Nike Hyperize Supreme NCAA PEs – Texas + Illinois

USC has a great football tradition, but their inclusion in the NCAA pack of Nike Hyperize PEs was something of a mystery. Southern Cal may have gotten some (illegitimate?) attention when Tim Floyd brought OJ Mayo to town, but other than that, it’s hard to compare their basketball program to Jim Calhoun’s reign of success in Storrs, Connecticut (even with his own recent allegations). Just when you feel like you can english-major a meaning out of that pairing, in come Texas and Illinois to further muddy the picture. Now what it looks like is a bunch of contending schools, with the new Longhorn and Illini joints going with black and navy blue, respectively, for a nice away look. Both have dropped alongside the USC and UConn Nike Hyperize PEs at House of Hoops.

Nike Hyperize – Houston Pack @ Northline Mall HOH Grand Opening

Back in August, House of Hoops opened up one of its new locations in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and to celebrate, Nike released two Philadelphia-inspired Hyperize colorways because of the store’s proximity to the City of Brotherly Love. This weekend will see another new House of Hoops open its doors, this time at the Northline Mall in Houston, Texas. Once again, to commemorate the new store, two new colorways of the Hyperize will be dropping this weekend, both inspired by Houston sports teams. The classic color schemes from the Astros and Rockets have both made their way onto the Hyperize. The Astros edition sports a mostly Orange upper with additional Yellow, Navy and White accents, while the Rockets version keeps it just a little more subtle with a Red upper highlighted by splashes of White, Yellow and Black. Both pairs will drop this weekend at the grand opening, so if you’re a Houston die-hard, don’t let these pass you by. Via FootLockerUnlocked.
