Converse Japan has issued countless standouts over the past few years, the majority of which are Chuck Taylor All Stars. Here we see a special Made in Japan edition commemorating the Chuck’s little brother, as the Converse One Star ‘J Red’ celebrates forty years of this popular lowtop. Crafted in colors borrowed from Japan’s famous Nisshōki aka Hinomaru flag, with white/red and red/white colorways offering roughly inverted distributions. Just how big is Sanrio’s Hello Kitty? To put it in perspective for sneakerheads, no other brand or retailer has collaborated with Reebok, Ubiq and Vans all in the last year. The latest example sees Hello Kitty’s universal appeal gives this new Vans Authentic an extra kick. White on red character outlines make for an interesting pattern without turning the shoe overtly cartoonish and blue details finish off a solid summer colorway. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star

The latest Converse Chuck Taylor All Star collaboration comes from the Far East in tribute to a long-running manga. The Japanese comic JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure now extends beyond Dreamcast throwback on your Xbox Live Arcade with a new Chuck Taylor hightop bearing ‘Phantom Blood’ embossing on the leather tongue tags and an illustrated upper inspired by protagonist Jonathan Joestar. These JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All Stars will hit select Japanese retailers with a pre-order starting Monday, May 20th, and you can see more images below.

mita sneakers x Onitsuka Tiger Fabre “Panda” – Available

After a ton of dope classic runners Gel and otherwise, Asics is giving a bit more attention to its old school basketball hightops. So after this shoe’s ‘Mexican Blanket’ makeup and the Grandest previews, the Onitsuka Tiger Fabre ‘Panda’ is poised to make an impact. This yin-yang of a mita sneakers collaboration was inspired by giant pandas at Tokyo’s Ueno Zoo, so their black and white asymmetrical uppers are cast in a wild fur material. These hit Japanese retailers in late April and are now available in select sizes at SNS.

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star BK “Sweatshirt Pack”

Converse’s use of the ‘sweatshirt’ theme in the 2010s is a good example of how to extend a concept over a long period instead of milking it dry in one shot. There were Chucks in 2010 and ’12 with a Star Player Sock Mid in between, and now we see a release for 2013 that outnumbers the past three years combined. Again exercising restraint, we see Converse Japan issue not a rainbow, but more of a Punnett square of Converse Chuck Taylor All Star BK Hi and Oxes. Each height gets grey/green and blue colorways, all four of which you can see in more photos below.

adidas Originals Rod Laver BY

Just about a month ago, Sneaker News notified you that adidas Originals had linked up with Japanese fashion label Beauty & Youth to reissue the original Rod Laver colorway. Luckily for US Three Stripes collectors, this one has made its way across the Pacific to select stateside retailers, which means you can get your hands on this classic white/green adidas Originals Rod Laver with an upgraded cork footbed. Hopefully that means United Arrows’ ZX 500 OGs are also headed this way, but for now let’s focus on the opportunity at hand with more photos after the jump and availability beginning Tuesday, April 30th.

These Stussy Deluxe x Converse CX-Pro Ox colorways tie in with both of the earlier drops, a camouflage edition going traditional four-color as compared to last year’s sandy style, while the navy joints add contrast stitching just like the 2011s.
