DC LIFE Admiral ‘Maritime’ – Spring 2010

Nike and Jordan Brand have been using a new shade called ‘Marine Blue’ lately. It’s halfway between sapphire and turquoise, but that doesn’t mean all ‘Maritime’ shades are quite as bright. That’s the name DC Shoes has given to these navy blue Admiral hightops. The tonal design incorporates leathers of varying degress of tumbled-ness, which is quite a bit more subdued than the recently released violet/fire Admirals. NATIONAL FOREST’s ‘Indigenous Modern’ pattern is back on the lining and finishes these off quite nicely. You can find them at DC Shoes‘ website.

When Fragment Design partners with Nike Sportswear, we can always expect a clean and casual pair of kicks with minimalistic branding, like last year’s Fragment Design x Nike Sportswear Tennis Classic in white and gold. The latest collaboration between NSW and Hiroshi Fujiwara of Fragment includes a third party, UNDERCOVER, but this mixer wasn’t a meet and greet as the three worked hand-in-hand before on a set featuring the Nike Match Classic. Nike Air Royalty Macaron Pack Launch Party Recap

What’s even tastier than a macaroon? How about the Nike Air Royalty Macaron Pack? Both spellings are fine, so long as you’re referring to those tasty French/Italian deserts, not the elbow pasta (or the coconutty version). Far more sweet than cheesy, the Macaron Pack looks like it was covered in fondant with each shoe opting for molded leather rather than simple stitched-on overlays. The result is something quite unique, as was the release party @ colette in Paris this weekend where people were invited to design their own. Nike Air Rejuven8 Mule 2

The Nike Lunarlite Rejuven8 Mid was one of Nike Sportswear’s crown achievements of their 2010 collection. The use of Lunar foam and Torch made the Rejuven8 Mid one their most high-tech trainer/runners to date. But how about something for the summer, or even around the house? Check out the Nike Air Rejuven8 Mule 2, which features the Torch upper on a house-slipper design. Nike has Mule-ified a number of their previous models, most quickly coming to mind being the Air Flightposite, which had its rear chopped off into the Nike Clogposite. The breathability of the Torch and the dotted sole should make for great summer-time comfort. You can grab these over at Nike Japan flagship Harajuku.

Nike Summer 2010 Preview

Released last year amongst a torrent of chukka-like lifestyle sneakers, the Nike Zoom Toki Mid has carved out a nice little niche for itself. Here’s a pack upcoming for spring 2010 (which means soon), that all look to be built of canvas with leather Swooshes. The resulting difference in shine gives a tonal effect, while accent hits come in on the eyelets and foxing. It’d be foolish to dismiss the new Nike Pepper Low as just another Vans Era/Authentic knockoff. In fact, Nike’s Deuce lowtop already rocked the pimsoll look, and it’s not like Vans invented that anyway (Keds, anyone?). So obvious similarities aside, what we have here is a fresh new lifestyle sneaker silhouette that comes to us in two monochromatic colourways. Both grey and turquiose pairs rely on a muted colour to perfectly balance the glossy leather that covers their toes.
